A series of t-shirts has been designed for the nations who qualified for euro 2008 comissioned by NIKE. In my opinion they all look pretty, and I am sure most people would rather collect them and not wear em out cause they look just too good. The people at W+K London has done it yet again for HONDA. The campaign called "DIFFICULT IS WORTH DOING". The TV spot named JUMP amazed me the most, its just amazing how much effort and time they put into the whole shoot for the spot. From how they gather the parachuters to the camera crew for the whole production its just mind blowing.

The cinematography is great, I think it could well be compared to This is a big AD BY George Patterson Y&R and Fallon London's SONY Bravia Ads. Just to fill you guys in, this is also the same agency who did the Honda Car Symphony Advertisment.

Have been browsing frequently on silnt.com a website by a local creative Felix Ng, who goes by his agency's name SILNT. The young art director is a graduate of Temasek Design School, pretty awesome work he has done.

Wait did I mention hes the same age as me…well he really put me to shame looking at the achievement's he has made to the local art scene.

He happens to be the dude who brought in and curated the much talked about art+design+sound show last year called THE DUAL CITY SESSION, if you haven heard of them then your really so so so not cool.

This year it started with a new destination in their tour which has just recently ended in BERLIN Germany, venue DMY Berlin. It is a show like no other. Yu can get to see Some of last years events highlight in SG and Tokyo via SILNT's Flickr.
Can't waiting for this year's event to happen during Design Festival 2008.

I would say my favourite would go to muon and silnt...muon has really some good tunes coming up from them, very soothing and refreshing drumb and bass check them out at their official website MUON.

Silnt's latest project also included helping to revamp the cyber home of design firm EQUUS-design one of the biggest name in corporate design house in SG, where they sit alongside the likes of local annual report design firm EPIGRAM and the infamous Kinetic Interactive which is now known as Kinetic SINGAPORE. Well kudos for Felix Ng whose achievement's motivates me to press on and stretch on mine.

Dubai is really coming up slowly, where architecture of the 21st century is trully taking place in this country that is full of sand and sea. Dubai a state where it was once a small fishing city has slowly flourish into a city where it is trully modern and cosmopolitan, where wonderful architectures could be seen touching the skies. It all started with Burj Al Arab which was designed by UK disciplinary consultancy ATKINS. From there, everything started coming together and the latest one is out to challenge Sydney's opera house. Jorn Utzon a Dannish architect designed Sydney's opera house in 1937 at a time where it awkward shape was a eyesore to many, but look at it now almost a century later people celebrate the success of his design and with that Zaha Hadid came up with one of the most astonishing structures for Dubai's own Opera House and Cultural Center.

I am done with the course but I am not feeling the exciment. Well maybe its due to finishing the course means back to reality time, but of cause I am glad that I finally got time to actually focus on my driving lesson which I had delayed like so so long. So well at the mean time it means sending out more resume to more prospectful employers. So for all you guys who are reading this and those know me, please pray for me and wish me luck.

There is so much to blog about man, this entry would be a long one man.

Read Jeff Ng's(STAPLE DESIGN) blog yesterday night, well some pretty neat stuff coming out from the dude from NYC. In case some of you might not know him, his name is pretty huge in New York's underground hip hop scene. A veteran designer himself, who is also the Creative Director of his own design house Staple design. Some of the big international clients that has engaged his services are NIKE international, Louis Vuitton, Zoo York, Uniqlo, Tokion Magazine and even Weiden & Kennedy just to name a few.

Jeff comes up with his own line of clothings which are always appealing to me at least, but sad thing is I haven got any since Jason sold away his store SKOOL. They most recently blasted a close door preview of their latest 08 Fall preview, with the likes of many well known artists and designers like Marley Mar the hip hop legend, John Jay Creative Director of W+K and many more check out his blog to view more of Staple design's fall collection.

Yea bottega has got kicks that are so similiar in design with Vans but very much much more comfortable. Bottega Venetta's products has always been so diserable with their elegantly waeves on their products perfect and meticulous finishings in their design.

A man that I come to know about recently Mr. Paul Arden has passed away recently!! He was one of the great men that I came to know about from friends. He was an ex-executive creative director of Saatchi Saatchi London, one of the most awarded and acclaimed agencies of the century. It was his books that was really inspiring to me, titled " WHATEVER YOU THINK, THINK THE OPPSITE" and I am thinking of getting my hands on his other best seller " IT'S NOT HOW GOOD YOUR ARE , IT'S HOW GOOD YOU WANT TO BE."

The d&ad student awards judging has started, but I still haven got a reply from their admin dept on the status of my work has it even reached their office in London. There was so much uncertainty about the courier and payment portion that is getting me all so hysterical. Just read their blog last night, and a spokesperson mentioned that all shortlisted entry will be be informed next week!! I dun know my chances but still got to keep my fingers crossed. Wish me luck!!

Back to back post…yea thats me!! I love to do things like that, when I don't write, I don't write and when I write cases like this happens Haha!!

Been looking at Pentagrams stuff for a long while, though they are not really "ADVERTISING AND DESIGN" related I still love the work that is coming out from all 5 office (New York, San Francisco, London, Austin and Berlin). They are made up of a large group of partners who manages and design…the design agency is made up of mainly Graphic designers, Architects and Industrial design(product design). They are really strong in North America and Europe! By the way they've got a new book called "BLACK BOOK", which is a compilation of over 400 projects of the years. It covers all aspects of design from architectural, branding, graphic design, interior design, product design, exhibition, packaging, publications, product design etc etc……you got to get the book to check it out for yourself if your a design junkie like me!!

My influences in designs: Paula Scher, Micheal Bierut and Abbot Miller all 3 of them hail from Pentagram's New York Office. All are great masteros in design!! Their work has always been a source of inspiration for my own…

Worrying indeed dosen't solve anyting…i find my entries title so true!! Well been looking at Stefan Sagmeister's new book titled: "Things that I have learned so far in life".

The maxims he has for each experience he encountered made me think a little more. Heres a video of what I have watched on Hillman Curtis the interactive mastero's website http://www.hillmancurtis.com/hc_web/film_video/source/fof/sagmeister08.php, it is a documentation of Sagmeister's latest exhibition at Deitch Project. The whole vid is very nicely shot…so even for you guys who don't do design or don't know him, heres the time to know this fella alittle better.

Maxims from his latest book see if they make senses to you…

1. Helping other people helps me.

2. Having guts always works out for me.

3. Thinking that life will be better in the future is stupid. I have to live now.

4. Organising a charity group is surprisingly easy.

Busy and here we go again…

I have been so busy recently, everything seems to be piling! Don't seem to know why my projects aint moving at the rate I intended to! I struggled a little or maybe for quite abit, but at the end of the day I manage to tide the storm.

My Final Project is a killer, I have no idea how much work I am putting myself into, but I am really excited about how the outcome would look like. Personally I think I did enough research on my topic and hopefully it will all but reflected onto what I want to say. I feel at times I over think and thats the cause of many of my own downfalls, or to put it simply I am ambitious, where I pack too much of my thoughts and ideas together.

This question popped up on monday night while we were having our booze, chris kept saying I want to do advertising, but my question back to him was "What is Advertising".

While I was reading the book by Micheal Bierut on the 79 Essays of design, it wrote about what advertising design is about and its purpose of how it persuades its audience and to some large extend creating a false impression of how a product or service works , and a graphic designers like an artist creates a form as the canvas/medium to express and relay their messages.

So what is it different from doing graphic design and advertising and design, are we all not graphic designers or artist in a way!

Well I guess I will continue to search for an anwser for this question that I have!

I had a sweaty day today…well I had my 1st annual IPPT(INDIVIDUAL PHYISCAL PROIFCIENCY TEST) at the old Police Academy with my new vocation the PNSmen Fitness Trainers.

Everything was going well for the other 4 stations where I attain maximum points, but what shattered my dreams of getting a gold for the first time in IPPT was my 2.4km run. I was so unmotivated by looking at the stadium lookalike tracks. But apart from that really disappointing run, I managed to break some of my own personal best, like my standing broad jump and also shutter run, where i got 239cm for standing broad jump and 9.8secs for my shutter run.

Anyway do away with all this rants i have, i finally cleared my IPPT for this FY and so again I will again wait for the FY's Annual IPPT again.

Yea that was the question pose to us by my lecturer Beng. Can you imagine, I have never given serious thoughts about it. Maybe I am just plain lazy or I just refuse to do any thinking.

But this question really started to bug me after this morning's tutorial. I think for this last semester, I have to really do some soul search and ask myself what is it that I really want to do and what sort of a designer am I? I hope I can decipher it and of cause from there progress further. Its always easier said then done…so I hope I am able to discover more as I go on…

Is it because it enlightens the job scope of all creatives? Or is it plainly because we are so lazy thats why we need it so often?

Maybe I have been working too hard on my Listening Vs Hearing Topic for the D&AD brief that I sort of screwed my mind, I am never a person who is interested in anything? Or maybe i Just exaggerated but well this is a blog and this is my space I can simply write and rant whatever I want! (*evil Grin*)

For those who are reading this entry and don't have a clue on what all this rant is about? Well Lorem Ipsum is a nicely laid dummy text, which is commonly used in Ad agency and graphic design house pretty it helps us as Art Directors and Graphic designer in coming up with SCAMMies(draft) for print advertisment's visuals.

But its only recently that I found beauty in this DUMMY TEXT which are so smartly put together the flow and etc etc…though it may look and sound latin but I personally think they are thrash language from another world. Well I think by now you guys must have realize what a fool I am!!!

Should anyone of you can decipher the passage's meaning or it does mean something. Don't hesitate to look for me where there is a reward awaiting. Well here it goes:

Yea I am trully offically 25th nw!! I got to admit I am getting old now…But still many thanks to all those peeps out there who actually remembered me, love ya all cheers!

Actually I have been really busy with school work that I actually didn't really remember my birthday, maybe I felt that there wasn't any significance to this day anymore. But anyway this year was a real quiet one for me, where I celebrated with 2 buddies from school on Sunday and also not forgetting yesterday spending time with my really really old time buddy Mr. Chan and Ian. You guys RAWK!!

Been having many thoughts and I guess its natural for an aging man to do…think about stupid things!!

Was chatting to a very good friend back from Secondary school just then!
I just felt that I did really many bad and irresponsible things back then…and I think I let someone who was nice to me down, I felt really bad till now and I think I really have to take this opportunity to apologies to her.

Its a new year!! Which meant New Briefs, New Assigments and of course New Objectives for this semester. Its gona be a year of uncertainties again…and for awhile I thought I had pass this stage, oh well its back to haunt me again!

This is my 1st week back in school…and guess what I was excited about coming back to the studio, meeting up with classmates talking about life.

But we soon had to face the music, projects were heading our way again.

I guess this blog will be a place where i vent all my thoughts…

Everything look so different after I came back from UK, things work differently like everywhere yea I know I am only there for 3 months but still I felt the difference like the weather and the culture and like how fast of a pace the peeps at UK were moving compared to us in Singapore, that really got me interested in motion and movements…

Ermm maybe thats the subject that i will work on…

What is Motion Graphic-----what is the relationship between motion and graphics!!

I got to get this above equation right first!! Been thinking about it since I came back, hope fully it would turn out to be the right subject to read on…if not you will see mince gordon!

Can this motion be something that help to synergise our earth's resource one day! All this sound so raw at the moment…whether anything will happen i would guess its for me to put on my thinking cap after 2 months of vacation and making it happen!!

I got a feeling i am gona be myself into a shoes of an explorer rather then a designer…

Welcome 2008

Well I know I know, I haven been putting in effort to drop by and write anything. Its been a pretty busy month came back about 3weeks ago from UK. Although I was only there for 3 weeks, but it seem like forever. It sound like i hated that place but in fact I am slowly growing to miss that place. Everything was nice there espcially the weather it was cold hard to adjust to but once u got adjusted to it everything was fine. As usual been shopping there as well as back in SG, well I manage to get Fred Perry's stuff in London at also a price that was cheaper then in SG as well as a shirt from Paul Smith, well the shirt wasn't something that I thought I would get but the sales that was going on just made me do it.

While I was in UK visited a few states like Birmingham, Nottingham and Lecister where my Uni was. It was an eye opener espcially knowing the fact that this place has a richer and longer history then SG. I always got a strange habit of just standing at one ground and just trying to feel the surrounding. Everything just felt so different, maybe thats what they say what you isn't what you might get!! Haha…

It was a good experince while I was there, the vibe as well as the culture. Would love to visit the place again in the future!!

Well here comes my new resolutions, it may sound cliche but still i got to list them down, hopefully I would be able to achieve them.

1) Start using Illustrator

2) Learn how to use Indesign

3) Focus on getting my license

4) Graduate

5) Win Awards

6) Open myself to more opinions

7) Know more friends

8) Better Time managment

9) Speak with more confidence

10) Tidy up my room

Another post that is about my crappy life…went to the Fred perry Laurel Store at Ann Siang finally after so long of a wait. Got my self some stuff.

Not forgetting i cook my own cabonara. Well I think cooking the cream of mushroom is much easier and also I think it taste better. I just love stuff that are creamy. Though the first try wasn't that fantastic, but I guess I will improve. So expect more cookeries from me hahaha!! Pixies.

erm finally got some time off from sch work to put in an entry!!
So much reports to be written with so little time, after about 5years off from writing essays I am back at it once more. The feeling is like a whore who repented and was force to work as one again…haha jus jokin! Pretty stress at times but nevertheless its fun I get to learn more espcially on my language, of cause not forgetting the many privillage I could enjoy as a student.

Met up with my buddies over the weekend and guess what Daniel made a special appearance after 2months with his lovely gf Ami. Ami's really a wonderful girl, oh did i mention shes from Japan. Shes really sweet and demure, everyone of us were like so envious of Daniel…on Friday we had dinner at a Jap restraunt in chijmes, the food theres really authentic and I think its like one of the best ones I have been to! And again Daniel was the dude who paid for it…

On sat, we gathered at Dang's apartment again, this time to try out Ami's cooking. Ian and I bought a sushi platter from genki sushi and also about a dozen Hooegarden(we are all so in love with that beer), with Seng later ordering another platter from SAKE sushi.
At about 7.30 the feasting begin, the food Ami cooked was simply "delicious". Everything looks so yummy, for once we had lots of sushi left over, usually its the fastest to get cleared out when we gather. Ami's cookinig is really fantastic, her sukiyaki and Miso soup is really authentic not forgetting Daniel's effort in cooking curry which wasn't too bad either. All in all we had tons of fun and of cause great food.

Thank You AMI and Daniel for being such great host. Not forgetting James for the GOD OF WAR2 game its freaking awesome!!

Well been a busy 3weeks since school started, projects are pouring in. I am pretty much settling back into a student's life. Walking the same route to school which I did 2.5years back. Strange at first, but slowly getting use to it. Its less of a hassle as I've got more time to work on the stuff I have, which I hope I won't abuse it.

Went over to KL for day just to catch Stefan Sagmister's talk!! It wasn't all fantastic, with the norm of the speaker showing his work. Not exactly inspiring but of cause he made some sense about aspiring young designers like myself and my mates! If your into design you would most probably have seen the morbid posters he made for confrences(himself naked) as well as some very famous CD covers. He recently did a CD cover for JAYZ despite rejecting his record company, saying he wasn't keen but JAYZ loved his work so much, he took out the extra cash to pay him for the design fee! Well thats segmister, before the talk a few mates and I actually caught up with him up close, haha well it was a coincidence actually, he was out for cigar and there my maes were puffing on some cheap ciggis, but he was real down to earth, he walked out we greeted him with a smile and he came over and said hi! We told him we travelled for 5hrs to KL for his talk and he was like! OMG, I would never travel more then 20mins to come listen to someone talk!! Best part he called us a crazy bunch haha…and during the talk he actually thank us for making the trip down to KL just for his talk. COOL!

a new term

School has finally started this week, it has been a wait of 3 gruelling weeks. This is like my first time stepping back to school after 3.5years. Everything felt different, probably due to the new compund I will be studying at! Till now I felt that it was still a week that was managable, though we already had our first brief on Monday, which the project is due on the 17 Aug a week just after National Day. So that means I will be working on this brief through National Day so that leaves me with ample time to work on the design aspects of the project.

This BA course proves to be a challange for me, as it not only test me in the discuipline of design but also reports and I mean tons and tons of them. I admit I am not a perosn who enjoys challanges in life, but of cause I also firmly believe that a person could not get too comfortable in a place cause it sort of make you stagnant. Well no matter how lazy a person is, I thought he or she should make an effort to move on.

Enough said. Got a couple of rubbish on my wishlist to get, which I hopefully can get em if not I will be damn damn disappointed. Haha. Till then cheers!!

Todays bloody hot, and it sure was so hot it melted my white air safari's sole. I didn't even realise the soles were tearing apart until I was at Jurong East station, and to think of it I was still happily walking that 900meters from BBDC to Bukit Gombak station crazy!!
At class I was bombard with question by the instructor, fuck man…worse still some questions I was not able to anwser them though I have passed my basic. Stupid me, got to revise some stuff first before I take on my pracs.

Well with my worn out Safari's I still manage to bought a box of 10 muffins from Tanjong Pagar, its really delicious if any of you guys happen to be at the old tanjong pagar market be sure to check them out real nice. Eat them while they are still hot, I promise you will be in for a treat!!

Well class again tml, which i think will be crazier cos I will be going for 2 classes straight. Cheeries.

Ermm a long break for me indeed…never felt better! Went to Ikea Tampines twice, there were so much stuff to be bought there. Had the opportunity to grab some new furnis for my room, though it still looks like thrash but I am slowly trying to make things happen!!

Been brainstorming for ideas this two weeks for my own book, they look rather exciting and I hope they are. Cause at the moment its still very sketchy and I hope things would work out rather fine! Wish me luck yo!

Finally 27th June, yes its my last day at work…Well work was still pack for the day, my things needed my immediate attention, but there I was taking things easy. Due to it being the last day at work, I felt as if it was a Friday haha… Many things would be missed at work, my colleagues a bunch of looney ones(ELLYNA, Cannie my neighbour and KT) not forgetting the mad rushes for impossible deadlines.
Got a small hamper from my crazy Copywriter, a hamper with 2 small peanut butter and a coleslaw sauce which was clustered up together like a men's gential. Hes seriousily crazy man!! Would miss his constant rubbish in the office, the nutty craps and also hes always so full of shit copies for Singtel!! If you guys happen to read any crappy headlines on the singtel mobile and singnet braodband pamphlet its definetly my crazy copywriter dude who wrote them!!!

Learn many things the hard way at Nerf and Alchemy, but like my shifu Jimmy always says: "you've got to endure the excruciating pain before you learn the finest things in life," which I find it very true up till now.
Oh well another life story chaptered in my journal…ermm I think I would titled it " WHERE I GOT STARTED…".

Well tomorrow would be flying off to Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) with Ian and my uncle, half business the other half pleasure.
This would be like a second trip, after Bangkok which was like what a year ago…haha I should be excited now but still in my heart I am feeling half hearted, I don't know why! I am always like this, before the whole event I would be so anxious about the trip but as the days draw closer I just felt wierd…maybe its just me!!!

After this trip, I've got to get down to real business again, much things on the agenda to accomplish and hopefully everything would go smoothly for me. Plans for lots of big things before my school ends next year and hopefully I can concerntrate and get what I want…

Was talking to a friend tat day and he was telling me about how he felt after seeing his ex-gf again and he felt remorse…which I think he should be…well he was a real disappointment to his gf and I could imagine the devasation he infliceted on his GF… sunddenly old memories boiled again but well no hard feelings just a sundden thought came to mind, TREASURE WHAT YOU REALLY HAVE AND DON'T LET THAT OPPORTUNITY SLIP, CAUSE GOOD THINGS ONLY HAPPENS ONCES IN A LIFETIME!

Been so laszy lately, even on weekend i found it so dreadful to sit down infront of the mac to type anything. Many ideas to execute but again like i just mention I am just plain lazy. Gona kick all the bad habits out and work out some shit…cause I am seriousily going back to school already and I've got to get ready for it, yes you heard me right going bac to sch for my BA in design for about a year. I am also down to my last 2 weeks at work, its a good experince to see and learn so much from almost a year at work, which is the reason why I am finally putting all the good practice I've learned during the 8mths into some really creative projects for my book! Talking about life and such at winebar on friday night, and of cause it was awesome, been out with the guys, and guess what I met Terrence there too, he was spotted in short hair. I almost could not recognised him until i saw his satanic tattoos all over his arms.(Well guess thats what they are for!!)

Well enough said for the work and study part, my bro just came back from his holiday in HK and I made him brought back Krispy Kreme. Fuck! those donuts are delicious. I know they are sweet and high in all those calories and shit, but who could resist such heavenly treats.

Would be going to vietnam at the end of the mth for a short trip, hope to do some photo shoot there. Oh yes, I finally popped by Cafe Del Mar it was really a nice place for peeps to chill out. The ambience theres great not to mention the waitresses haha they simply WONDERFUL!! Witness the moon setting amongst the dark sky and of cause crashing waves at the beach nearby. We chill till, 5am and everyone was like damn tired!! But the place was really relaxing although they won't really playing chill out music but it was all cool. Nice!! Would love to drop by the place again with my buds again, prob in something more casual.

Been busy this days, new projects dropping in almost everyday. For you guys who didn't know I Just went for my first reservist, as a RT(REMEDIAL TRAINING) TRAINER for reservist men who couldn't pass their IPPT.

As always reported at the Police KINS training base feeling nervous and tense, not knowing what I would be doing and what I should be doing as a trainer. Kins training camp reminded me of the Old Police Academy at Thompson Road, but of cause the place looks more pleasent and livelier then PA. Kins troopers could be seen walking here and there in their H&K mp5, that made my dear ex squad mate and now colleague bilal real excited.

The programme started on the monday afternoon, which we clocked about 6kms. Everyone looks pretty shaggy, the attitude was expected from this reservist men. We were told by our lead trainer Simone that we had to clock 40km at the end of the whole 5 days programme. The whole idea of this RT programme was actually like a reality check for some of the guys who kept skipping their IPPT as well as for us the trainers to push them and impart whatever we know to them so that they could prepare themself for their upcoming IPPT at their respective division as for this time round the whole group was from ECHO! I did enjoyed myself for the trekking at Macritchie, we did a 15km trek through their nature trail, had the opportunity to walk visit HSBC treetop walk the sight up there was fantastic, the walk was really treacherous but it was all worth it. If not for this reservist I guess I would never visit this place at all. This whole programme did open my mind in some aspects but also sad as it was the last time I would see my buddy DIN, as he is actually joining the civil defence this coming july. Erm well enough said for all this, would be having a review with the PNS Assitant Director on the RT programme. Work resume for me this coming tuesday which I am pretty much looking forward to.Hahaha.

Everyone in the office were cheering bout this long weekend, like the ad done by JWT Bangkok on cheers beer.

This week at the office have been working on the CMC brochure which was left behind by Terrence the previous designer. His layout were all rejected, which means I had to redesign a newer layout. Was given a very brief direction on how I should design the brochure, played along the likes of colours and boxes. The client was unsure the look and feel that he wanted for his brochure which made life alittle diffcult.

Finally found some time on this Friday night to actually sit down and do some solid writing in my blog, that I thought I have forgotten. Well have been very very busy after switching up to NERF CREATIVE from Alchemy, as well as today was my last pay cheque from Alchemy.
Less tension could be felt at the new office I am situated at and of cause the people I am working with are more down to earth no hypocrites, everyone gives each other respects.

I use to dread sundays while I was at Alchemy cos it ralways gives me that post monday blue feeling. Sunddenly that feeling don't really bother me anymore, have to agree with the experts that the working enviroment and the people you work with does make a difference in how you feel about work. The office is really cosy furnished, though at times its gets a little freezy but it was all good. They have a large collection of design books and magazine that really helps in our research and refrence while at work. Not forgetting the little pantry we have, which also happens to be Ian's frequent hangout either then his desk....haha, but still I miss the convenience of having a coffee machine which I have the privillage to use.

Working seems to be a big part of my life already, even on weekends I would be working on some shit. Haha...got to tell myself to take a break. Burn my last weekend on some stuff from work, though this week proves to be lesser in workload but still I am juggling on 2 macs and of cause did a crash course on adobe illustrator and indesign. Hahaha don't play play ah self taught man.

Just got my hair cut at Paul's salon and I think its great. So lucky I didn't highlight or dye my hair cos my farking reservist letter is here, they are asking me to report to the KINS(KEY INSTALLATION UNIT) at their base in ULU PANDAN as a Trainer, haha so it means having to start training up again!

Got to do some retail therapy soonz, but theres just so much things I want to get but so little money I could afford to spend. Hahaha. Oh well got to live with it and hope that someday I will make it big and ya big pay cheques will start rolling in...haha. cOoL! Well hope to blog abit more on my work again on the next entry, if time allows. Hahaha.

The weekend like the last ended so fast, it was like friday then saturday and then now what Sunday already! Why! Why the weekends just has to end so fast. I wish that they would last a little longer, just for me to enjoy myself that little longer.

Yesterday finally got a chance to meetup with mellie as well as the guys for a movie, yups it was 300. The movie was fantastic, the cinematography the lighting and the words that the character of the wise king used were inspiring. The whole movie was CG pushed and was a vast improvment from its predecessor "SINCITY" which was pure crap, everything about it was crap.

Went home work abit on my office stuff, after that watched NACHO LIBRE with my bro till around 1am and then back to work at my desk sending of an email to my copywriter and yea that sort of ends the day for me. Hahaha.

Later today meetup with my campmates, whom 3 of them has jus graduated from their air steward course which meant lesser meetsup with them as they will be flying very often.

My first job lost was the MTV thingy that I was saying in my last entry.

It was rather disappointing at first, but I slowly learned to embrace it. I had to partly blame myself for not partnering a copywriter as I was working alone. All the ideas were pretty random I was pretty much fighting this war all by myself. This makes me feel at times I should have been part of NERF rather then ALCEHMY cause sometime I feel peeps in Alchemy are full of themself. But I concede the lost as it was to those rookies in ALCHEMY, they had very strong and interesting conceptfor the spot which I was lacking. But nonetheless it was my first time brain storming for idea for a TV spot and fucking indeed it was an experince which reminds me one mind don't work that well and I got to be accompanied with a copywriter whenever I am engaged in a project.

A sigh of relief was that my CD did say I had an interesting idea, but of cause it followed with a sentence:" like you know GORDON I could not bring all the ideas to show to the client. That pretty much tells me almost everything there needs to be said already. Well I don't blame him cause the other teams really did put in lots of effort and thoughts into the MTV SPOT.Though my ideas wasn't choosen I still wish them all the best cause afterall we are still a team in general. Well sad and disappointing but this tells me to continue to work even harder, to read more see more venture into newer stuff.

Damn this week passes so fast, and so did the weekend. Works been real slow this week, nothing new nor interesting to talk about except for the brief on MTV. Well rather not talk about it, cause sometimes been a junior ain't that good afterall don't wish to vent it out here!! Well gona submit my transcripts to NAFA soon, hope everything goes well.

Oh ya this reminds me that today is the chup guo mei, which is the last day of the LUNAR NEW YEAR. Yea this means, pig year has started and we can well prepare ourself for yet another zodiac year ahead. Everyone's got big plans ahead for this year as for mine, well I would say I did manage to achieve what I have said at the beginning of the year, though it wasn't exactly all in accordance nonetheless I saw where I stood and known my strength and weaknesses. Haven really got time for myself to really give a thought on what is to really happen for the coming years down the road, I will have to find a time to sit down quietly to give it a real thought, no others manipulation cause many of times I find myself a victim to others view. So this time fuck it!!

Yeah!! Works a killer...got to have a break soon and catch up on my thoughts. Been so so so busy since Chinese New Year till now. I haven even got a real break, work has really kept me at bay. Though I learn many new things and seen many different things but of cause with this comes great sacrifices like sleep and time for leisure. Every thing in my life seems to be working at a pace that I can hardly comprehand, to make things worst I am not even sure if this is a good sign or is it bad. Working on and off projects that were done by others and time is always so short for me, its like I am not given sufficient time to think and work through things. I hate that sort of situation cause it often leads to a disatrous ending which I hope it won't. Life sucks don't you guys agree. Well gona continue to strive on......

CNY has ended jus like how fast it came. Well back to work tomorrow, gambled abit at Steven's place yesterday, and today my place as well Letitia's won some as well as lost some. (You can never be the big winner) CNY was not like what it used to be when I was younger, the freshness has like slowly worn off. But more bonding session between my cousins, we spend the whole afternoon talking about life and lots of other shit, prob its because we've all finish our NS except for my bro whos finishing up this May afterwhich his Uni life in NUS this July. Well everything just pass to fast. Oh ya did I mention I was doing some last min shopping with my bro on Sat and we stumbled onto a Calvin Klein pants which look really nice and I think I would want to buy it soon!! Hahaha...

Many of us were rather sian as we are going back to work tomorrow, none really had the mood to party through the nite at letitia's place, Ian and I have to work tomorrow, kelvin as well Daniel's is flying to BKK tomorrow morning. Sad! But we have something to look forward to again this sat as we are heading back to Daniel's crib again for our own CNY reunion. Hope the participation rate would still be there.

Finally Holidays here!! Have been so looking forward to this weekend. Advertising life is really draining, its only a month at Alchemy but it seems like I've been there for a year already. Well have been busy working on a few different ideas for some very reputable brands...its very true that deadlines are always so short which in advertising, I suppose its insufficient for us(as ADs) to come up with any award winning ideas(haha). Ryan was so right about the industry, no time for anything and you got to strive real hard in order to break out. So far I've started on some progressive items in the term of Art direction, like the most recent peugeot Ad that I did weeks back as well as the most recent ones for Sony's ZO card which I think would be out in the streets in a few days time. As well as worked on some other things like the centrepoint's DM, as well as another peugeot ad.

I've learnt to work faster and create ideas at a faster rate, its good training haha....But of cause Art Directing is never simple cause at the end of the day its the clients who wins the day.
Ermm...quite a feat as I am able to do so much within this month.

Well wish me luck for the upcoming months which seems more endless briefs coming in. Hahaha.....

I got my pay this week, my colleagues were saying its early but nonetheless it was good for me, as I was able to do some last min CNY shopping yst. Got some stuff from stussy, Mooks, Queen Couture as well as quicksilver prob after new year I am going to go for a CK PANTS which looks extremly nice. But till then heres another tee I am thinking of getting from House of Holland. Nice typos.

busy busy week

This week was indeed a very very busy week as compared to last week. Many things to do and many things I've got to see through. Did my first press check yesterday and of cause I finally broke my virginality by working on the Peugeot half page press ad which was printed today, located at the bottom of the half page space on the life papers. Well damn shiok, signed off my first press ad beside the Art Director column haha yea!! Finally. Do check it out comments are greatly appreciated though it was some normal job by DI and concept was all done by me, but before all this it was 1 night staying up which proves all worth it at the end after looking at the ad on the papers. That Satisfaction.

Before this happy event, I was working 48hrs from monday to Wednesday only given 3hrs of sleep. Pretty sad, but thats how it works in advertising, speaking of which tomorrow I've got to work as well. Darn!! Advertising is a killer short deadlines and close to perfection works. "Thats Advertising".

Yea Last weekend, was out with my buds for a couple of drinks in celebration of my birthday. Happy that many turned up, peeps like Weili who I've not seen for many years and also Fabian and guys. Got ourself a couple of drinks at the FORBIDDEN CITY at clarke Quay then it was down to Haagan Dazz where Daniel bought me an Ice Cream Cake which look darn expensive. Well really appreciated it and of cause thanks alot guys. Espcially Kel and Ju who got me the Singapore Sling. Hahaha. if you guys are reading it "THANK You", very much.

Hey hey, finally got time today to actually do some decent writeups. Yea, been a busy week at work, much of the work were handed to me after lunch hrs which made me work till after 6pm. Haven really seen much in the agency yet, but of cause its like only a week and its pretty much hard to say the direction I am heading to. But of cause this whole week have been working on the stuff for Lasalle Sia's open hse which would be happening on the first week of Feb. I was tasked to assist and work on the school's info graphic map as well as the EDM(Electronic Digital Mailer some new ass media). Been quite fun learn abit more on layouts and stuff. Apart from all this I feel next week would be a more tedious week as I have more jobs on hand to clear.

I bumped into Cheemun last night haha, to learn that he actually quit his job as a vidz editor which after talking to him felt that he made the right choice of leaving the industry and sometimes its quite true passion and making a living out of it usually don't gel. Well sometimes got to be realistic! Well all the best to his new leash of career!

Erm finally received my cheque from JWT. Yea!! At least there is some cash for me, before my new jobs pay. At the same while collecting the cheque had the chance to meet jimmy and erika but ryan was missing in action. Darn missed him twice man, first was BlackMagicDesign (POST PRODUCTION HOUSE) party then now this. Think he hates me haha!! As always had crappy talk cock session with them, always teasing me. But still I love them, the most fun loving peeps!

I signed my letter of appointment with Alchemy n Partnership, was appointed the role of Jr. Art Director. I would be working hard on this post and hopefully gain sime real good experince. As per said in my last entry my team would be servicing DBS, Peugeot Cars , lasellaSia college of Arts and a Cosemtic brand which I have no idea what it is. Really nervous to start work on monday, hopefully everything will turn out well. Haha!

For the past week I was pretty disappointed that most of the resumes I send out none of em returned a reply, until Wed morning where I actually saw a reply from Alcehmy wasn't really expecting them to reply me due to it being a relatively new local agency. Alcehmy is also a listed member in 4As(ASSOCIATION OF THE ACCREDITED ADVERTISING AGENT SINGAPORE), just like JWT.

After signing the letter of appointment, had dinner with dar and yuting and following which a house party at this real cool post production hse called Black Magic Design(www.blackmagic-design.com), they produce TVCs for TBWA's M1 latest ad, the Singpost guy for Y&R sg just some meorable ones which I saw in their show reel. Met many peeps at the part espcially guys from TBWA, all of em were like yea as you might have guessed it Suits. They are all very glam dressed like some rich tai tais. I went off from the party feeling wasted, woke up the next morning at 7 to drop by Procolor sep for some tour of their plant, yea it was an insight cool. Till now thinking of the post appointed to me it felt good. Fuck I told myself I've got to work harder then I was before cause many people are looking at me, and I've got to prove them wrong and show them what I've got to show to the rest of the world.

Yea!! I am so elated, I finally found a job in Advertising. Went for my first interview with them and I got it, though the pay wasn't high but its managable and able to sustain my daily allowance for now. Well its a visualiser cum Jr. Art Dir post, thats what I last heared from the CD Alvin Wong. I am like so looking forward to the new post, thank god for the blessing. Never expect to clinch the job that easily and it was never to my mind that I got in that easily. Really happy about it. Gona handle accounts for DBS, Peugeot cars and a couple of other brands. Really excited to start working on them at the same time nervous cause I am gona handle it as a full time staff.

Well tml I am going back to Alchemy again to sign my official letter, at the same time I will be going down for a party at Black Design with Jimmy and guys from JWT sg. Hahaha, really excited about that as well. Dudes I am going down to black design man, their CD's Jackson Tan, one the consiprator of PHUNK STUDIO. Yea!

Last Day at JWT

Well last day at JWT, hai mix feelings. I really would miss those merry makers Jimmy, Ryan and Erika. They really make someones day. Luv them lots! Having to know that when monday comes I won't see them is just wierd, but of cause all good things has to come to an end. Yes it was a good end, everything went smooth sailing except that it was alittle busy as Ryan is rushing to send out his work for the CLIO awards in New York. Well hope it wins something, so eagerly looking forward to seeing the results in May - June07. Hahaha.

The guys bought me lunch at a bistro cafe at Ann Siang Hill, where I finally knew where Batey stood. It was just beside Scarlett Hotel and TBWA, which means its also very near JWT which is like 10mins walk? Hahaha. The food there was fabulous but the waiter a mat who slangs, well his service attitude sucks, pissed us off. Had a hearty meal afterwhich I dropped by Maxwell market bought curry puff for the team for tea break and 2 boxees of man jiang kui for the whole creative Department. Having to leave the place was really diffcult and worse to even say BYE to my team and mentor. So sad!! Bid farewell to the whole JWT creative team. It was defiently my pleasure being able to be there. Everyone was great!! Hope someday i could return back to JWT SG.

Well now slapped back to reality!! Gona do some sending out of resume. For work, Clarance helped me with one. But of cause nothing is confirm and all are pending. Hopefully I could get into my desired agencies.

Yet another Post!

Yea its another post. Well everything seem alittle slow this week, prob there wasn't much to do at work!! Finally I am at my last week in JWT. Had a wonderful time, working with people who shared equal passion for the things they love and probably even more passionate then I proclaim myself to be. Hahaha! It was my pleasure!

Met up with Daniel and gang yesterday. Planned for a movie but because of lousy seats we moved on to a KTV session instead. Sang our hearts out but the night trully belong to Daniel, who broke up with Zhenhui just yesterday. Though he didn't say he was sad but I could understand the feelings that he is going through at the moment. After the KTV session it was around 2 plus so we decided to have supper(suggested by ah seng who is forever hungry) went over to Rivervalley which was recommended by Daniel's friend once of his cabin crew. We sat there talk awhile, talk about the crap of the past and of cause Daniel's relationship. But everything ended alright, no tears were broken and nothing too emo happened. Send Daniel's friend back, as she was staying just behind Zouk, then it was off to my place next. (Thanks Ian) Reached home around 4, chill abit readed some creative magazine and finally doze off to bed.

Here I am now writing this piece of shit.
Oh ya during the KTV session. Seng sang a song I introduced to him and he dedicated it Daniel and I, but I think it meant more for Daniel at that point of time. So here it is, I regretted not recording the moment he sang it. We all thought it was a nice song, nice lyrics. Enjoy!

Well back from a Long break. Yea! its my last 2 weeks at JWT. It was definetly an eye opener for me. Had so much fun with the creative projects, but still it was a short time for me to make any good friends there. Wasn't much to be done in the office. Everyones busy with their submission for the upcoming D&AD awards cause the deadline is on the 10th Jan 2007. Hey hey its 2007!

Where was I? Haha, I was at ZOUK again, doing the same things like last year, partying through the night. Had the opportunity to meet new friends, as well as catching up with some old sec sch mates(Letitia and Cheryl). But that night we were all very surprised by the act Sotong pulled. He popped by at Zouk ard 11 plus, he was here just to count down with us for the year 2007. Haha, this year steven has got nothing to say about him anymore, he really made us speechless, and we definetly had a good time counting down together.

Ian couldn't drink that night cause he was driving, so yea good for him!! As for me, I was like so seh already after 12, after Sherry gave me the glass of wine I was like hell why is the disco balls spinning man, Steven was also very high together with Ah seng who got complains from my sec sch mate saying he danced dirtly with them. So much to blog about for that night, but of cause like always something are better left unsaid.

Well put aside everything, a New Year means everything is back to zero. Got to work hard this year. Resolution has been noted down, I hope to make em all happen. Many important decisions to be made as well as many not so important notes to take care of.

Well everything ended in a good note for the year 2006. All my buds were there, what more can I ask for! It was like last years New Years Eve celebration, nothing short of a good note. Looking forward to a great 2007.

Guys and Gers, its New Years Eve! Ermm let me see if there is any New Years Song, damn I don't think I have any in my Imac......think I've got to search for 1 in one of my old cardboxes which is lurking somewhere in my storeroom, but I swear I have em.

Guess all those sentimental peeps out there are already jotting down their new year resolutions quietly in their good looking 555 notebook. I must say those 555 notebooks are darn good, they are handy and at the same time cheap, it cost like what 40-50cents. Hey don't act cool and say you never heard of the brand, fuck everyone knows the brand 555 when it comes to notebook, its like the crocodile brand in stationery. Household brand ok!! Coming back to jotting down new year resolutions, I am always like half at it, I could note down a dozen but most of the time not accomplishing most of em, I am like the biggiest liar(to myself at least). Nevertheless this year I will still write but TRY to cut down on the no. of resolutions*I try to*and hopefully faith will bring me through all of it. Ahhh....you guys think I will jot it down here didn't you. Actually I did thought of but on the second thought if I were to jot it down here and you guys know about it and see me not accomplishing the task I assigned for myself its like so ma lu! Hahaha. Well guess I would stick to my trusty pinkish 555 notebook. *hey! dun think I don't know your laughing at what I am writing infront of your screen!* Stop it! I say stop laughing!! " p

But well coming back to a recent upsetting event, which I overheard from the many secret talks my mum and dad had on the tellie conversation, where you know kids don't get a part of the action. Oh ya I digress too much! Coming back, its about my cousin whos getting a divorce, yes its damn sad. This cousin was 1 of those whom I was rather close to, back when I was still staying at my ah ma's CRIB(when I was 4 plus). Ya, I could still vivdly remember my cousin's wedding dinner just back in 2004, and the person who I attended with. I was rather upset when I heard of the news, for a moment bad memories of myself started flowing back into memory. Yea, yea maybe its the end of the year so such things are returning back to haunt you. But on a lighter note, its a miracle for once my absent mindness left me.

Well its really quite scary, after dec it means I would be another year older in Jan! Damn! I can't believe it I am turning 24!! Hey dudes give me a break, I don't want to grow old that fast, I just saw Ah seng turn 23. Well was using my bro's laptop the other day, guess what I saw an Mirc icon, freaking hell give me a break that was the IN THING back I was still schooling!! But never thought I would be greeted by its presence again. Peeps are still using it, I thought it was like close down already or something, but having seen it on my bro's comp it just goes to show that I am quite outdated. But anywayz its like a reminder to myself that I've got to update myself with things around me, if not the next time anyone whoever sees me again will be asking why are there grey hairs outgrowing your black ones, which I know would be quite upsetting!

I am really looking forward to a better year in 2007, hope everything will be replaced.

Passed my Final Theory, after the second attempt at it. But also at a record breaking time of 10mins for the 50qs. Before the test in mind I was quite worried that I might fail the test again cause I really had no confidence all I could think of was shit la how ah later the queue downstairs very long got to wait etc... Cause I only started to study this week and it was like 1hour each night before the test date. I really got to thank god for thiat. Now comes the practical which I would have to put into use all that I have learned in theory. Yea!

Well new years eve tomorrow. But we haven even got anything solid going. Many ideas but none seem to be agreeable, hard to compromise. Its always the same old issues. Hope we can solve em, if not I think we could really stay at home and see the dawn of the NEW YEAR at home. HAHA!

Well many new year resolution to be made. Many things in mind for this coming 2007. Hope I can achieve em all.

Christmas is over, everyones looking forward to the next holiday NEW YEAR DAY.

For me this new year proves to be one that is pretty uncertain, many task lies ahead but of cause like always I will try to brave through it. Much anticipation on whats gona happen in the coming months. Well would start with leaving those that I don't want behind 2006, and embrace a new 2007.

Would be working hard this holiday on my portfolio, which i hope by then await critics from Jimmy when he is back from his holidays next year. Hoping 2007 would be a better year as compared to 2006!

Yes! Its time for another post, just before christmas!

Well its been a crazy week, deadlines to meet presentations to clear before the long holidays, and of cause everyone in the office were like giving out presents the whole week. Received a few myself, but of cause I wasn't really expecting any from anyone as I was just an Intern.
Well those nice people that actually remembered me were Clarance, Jimmy, Erika, Thomas, Faye, Ryan and my CD ALI SHABAZ. So glad to have known them, they made my exsistence felt in the office.

The gifts they gave me were not expensive, but I was really elated. Clarance gave me a very cool sketchbook which he bought in BKK. Its from one of the shops at the new shopping mall PLAYGROUND in Sukohmvit called MANGA an awesome place, would love to visit the place which we missed out on our last trip to BKK. My Head Jimmy gave me a card holder from MUJI, Thomas gave me a box of chocolate, Faye a notepad as well as ERIKA a doll. Everyone in the office were cracking their brains like: HOW AH! HE BOUGHT A GIFT FOR ME, I NEVER BUY FOR HIM ANYTHING? Haha such a person was my colleague RYAN who has this problem.

Had the chance to dropby TEO studio for a photoshoot. Well Teo was indeed a very experince photographer in terms of etiquette and not to mention his friendliness. Its no wonder many ADs and CDs love to work with him from Saatchis to DDB almost every MNCs agency's AD guys has worked with him before,. Hes one of those photographer who has no temper. It was also my head and colleague first time working with him. Would love to work wit him in the future as well which I really hope so.

We spend last friday brain storming on our brief for Lipton. The ideas were then presented to Ali on Monday, worked out the visual on Tuesday and yesterday my HEAD went out with 1 of the AE to present our ideas to the bosses and marketing guys at UNILIVER. The bosses loved our idea and I was quite proud cos the idea that they liked most was the one suggested by me!! Yea, hope to see it roll out onto the streets next year. Not to mention after my head presented the idea to the client he came back with 2 tubs of BEN and JERRY ice cream, which everyone in the office enjoyed.

Its a month now since I ORDed, as well as a month spended at JWT. Well it was the most wonderful experince interning at JWT. Talking to peeps that were like heros that I thought I would only be able to see them only on ad mags and award annuals. Peeps like Clarance Chiew award-winning copywriter(EX-10am Comms writer) which only this week that I realise he knew my name haha so I was not invisible, Joseph Cheong award-winning copywriter(EX-BBDO) an AWESOME a writer whos full of quirky ideas and of cause an avid cyclist together with Thomas Yang JWT's Head of Art whos also an Award-winning Art Director and Ang ShengJin the Award-Winning Art Director, Mr.Ali Shabaz our CD whose also an award winning copywriter before he was promoted to CD at JWT, he is darn good and hes really sharp in spotting ideas for the creatives, then finally comes my dudes Jimmy(my mentor) Head of Design, Erika the copywriter and his partner in crime Ryan Kam Art Director both of em were partners for like fucking 6 years since their Hay Days at Wunderman KL. The two of em has to pick on each other everyday but in a harmless manner.

This week was a pretty tough week, the BTL team were totally drained out!!
Working on the Olympus Pitch, spending 3 nights of brain storming and 2 nights of execution for idea and Scam. The rainy night before the presentation when all you guys were at home tug under your warm comfortable blankets and comfy pillows, myself and my 3 colleagues were still in the office working our butts out, I left at around 2am while the rest of the team work till 7 the next morning. The team just went back to take a bath and we all had to assemble back in the office at 11.30am to do abit of touchups before presentation, Gosh! guess thats advertising really is, tight deadlines. Yea!
Finally the presentation was made to the marketing people of Olympus by Jimmy, Ali and of cause the AE Esther the next day.

Thinking back it has been about half a year since I really sat down with a group of creative peeps to crack a brief, I could vividly remember the last time I seriousily took time off to do such a thing. Well if I didn't rmemeber wrongly it was back at IAS at the beginning of the yeaar doing the creative writing thingy project. Really enjoyed the process. But doing it at JWT is whole different experince its like a dream come true able to sit in a real agency doing REAL COMMERCIAL JOB. Recalling back 2 years back where I could only dream about it, and now it everything looks so real.

I think I am slowly falling deeply in love with advertising, its like a virus I am slowly being infected! Hahaha!

Like everything in the world, behind all the glam there is also the unglam. Haha like the hard work everyone puts in before an award winning campagin is born, the bitching which is always an ongoing affair, but always interesting and entertaining when you are engaged in such conversation, cause you do get alot of information about the industry which could act as real good case studies for future refrence. But well after having said all this, I am enjoying my stay at JWT even as an Intern, would definetly wish to further explore my career opportunity at JWT, which I really hope so.

Hell yea! Was spending the day home as the rest of the office guys are either at their own holiday destination or Bintan. It was an enjoyable day as well a disappointing one, was expecting my new living rooms TV to arrive today, but to my mum and I disappointment, the delivery man said it would only be able to send to us by tomorrow! Darn.

Well spend the last few days doing searches for stock images for work, hope I've got em rite if not we would be spending a whole lot of precious time looking for it again.

Was looking at adsoftheworld.com last friday, and saw an AD by Saatchi&Saatchis Guangzhuo which by now many creatives around the would would have seen it or knew about its exsistence, which led to an uproar. In my opinion the duo who created the ad were like "TOO SCAM" driven that they decided to come up with ads like those! They were from one of the most sort after agencies in the world but still such unfortunate incident happened. From a press release by Saatchis China the two creative involve in the act were sack immedialtely. Well thought it was kinda of harsh for the 2 of them, but what to do they disgraced their agency and of cause they've got to pay for the price. A pity!

It rained pretty heavily in the late afternoon, its when emotions sets in. I just stood by the window enjoying the soft breeze, slapping against my face. It was a kind of solace I found, where everything in mind came to a standstill. I just remember some stupid things things that I have done and some things I should not have done. Having thought so I agreed to what my brother written on some of his marathorn kit, it goes like "ONLY WHEN YOU FEEL PAIN, DO YOU REALISE THAT YOUR STILL ALIVE", which in my opinion I find that its true. It kind of reminds me that its only through suffering would u gain something out of it. I would definetly work harder towards my goal and hopefull achieving it.

Fuck man have been watching James bond movies for the past few weeks. Well I must say they are very interesting, in terms of their cinematography and stuff. From Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Pierce Brosna. Well I must say I do love the ones acted by Roger Moore, I guess he fits the James Bond role the best. He has that Cassanova face haha...my mum differs what I think she thinks sean connery and Pierce Brosna is a better Bond yucks. Fuck I am getting more bitchy this days! Hahaha....

Yea over the weekends had some pickup. Actually was in town to get some stuff for Jimmy, Ericka and Ryan but fuck in the end I pampered myself by getting clothes and a Compact Flash Card for my Dslr. Haha...finally knew what I wanted to buy for Jimmy and Erika. For Jimmy my mentor a Shishedo grooming kit and Erika prob a earing, as for Ryan I am still thinking hard what to buy for him.

Last week was slow moving, cause Jimmy was out for hot housing organised by Nestle Asia Pacific. Which was like the Young Lotus award, where a copywriter and a Art Director pairs up to work on a brief at a stipulated time, its a annual event I think where creatives from the different JWT offices in Asia come together. Let me see asia has how many JWT offices ermmm...24 offices in Asia, 50 odd offices in Europe and africa, 20 in South America and 10 in North, that amounts to 104 offices around the world. Hahaha...well quite a big network JWT has.

Next week would be an even busier week at the office. With pitches coming on, gona be a crazy week. Yea! But hell I wish there would be more. Yea!

Well time seem to pass very fast these days. Its like I was just about to embrace Monday and now its Saturday. All was well, presentation with unilever was great, heard from my Copywriter that everything was fine the client was pretty much please with our ideas, now we are awaiting the birth of the BIG IDEA. Jimmy was away for this "hot housing" thingy with clarance organise by KIT KAT south east asia. So everything was pretty much slow moving, was still working on the TEO STUDIO's card which we are rushing for the deadline for the entry for D&AD 07. As well as a few other probono work, hope those stuff I have taken part in would gain me some fame haha, even a finalist or merit would be cool.

Had a small chat with jimmy and erika my copywriter. They were telling me if I want to step in to advertising I have to start somewhere where the agency is doing creative work rather then business orientated. Gona take his advice and hopefully my portfolio would take me somewhere. Emailed VCUadcenter, the current hottest ad school in US, with many of their alumni working at big MNCs agencies around the States and the world.

Would hope to work on some HSBC mailer as well as lipton soon. I love to engage those creative as I had a share of chipping in ideas. Hhahaha.

Its been almost a week since I last blog of my experince in JWT. Well till date I still find that its cool working there, though I may not know everyone there even after the formal introduction at both the Creative Dept as well as Accounts Servicing Dept, yet meeting new colleagues. Work finally got rolling for me. This week proved to be an exciting week, in getting to know my dept peeps better as well as working on ideas. Just some works to share, well worked on a campagin, which was like really crazy. We spend 2 days working OT to brain storm on how to start the campagin which ended tonight as the last night before the next discussion. Eventually leading up to todays make or break session with the peeps from MINDSHARE(mediahse). I was pretty enthusiastic before the mindshare peeps came, as it was my first such SERIOUS MEETING. First was a rough brief by the AEs, and subsequantley the MINDSHARE peeps came. We discuss on the different medium we we able to convey our message across, but it was still not very complete and will be continuing the session on Monday before finally presenting it to our big client. We fucking took so long to get our big idea across, and it got everyone pretty piss off in the midst. Well it was enjoyable I enjoy such session, cause it just makes my brian revolving. Hahaha.....

Submitted my Works to Thomas Yang(JWTs head of art) also highly acclaim art director in SG. As well as finally had a chance to talk to Bolin's sis Elisa, which is also awarded this years NEW ART DIRECTOR at the CCA(Singapore Creative Circle Award). How cool is that, pretty much got a few tips from her and hopefully I could work hard and be like her.

Took some pics at the office again. Just love the ambince of the office, it really has that creative atmosphere rolling in there. Am loving it, hopefully I would be able to be part of the company. Speaking of this, I got to go do some christmas shopping for them...haha hope to blog more next week cheers.

They also won the office internal christmas card competition which won them $200 by our head of accounts Mr.Angus Fraser! Well can't say how the card look like. But it looks a bit like the coverpage for my resume hahaha....same idea but different concept and execution.

First thing first! I finally ORD!!! yea, I am an official NSmen on the 14/11/2006. This was also the same day, I started my journey into the life of a creative. Hahaha. Started for almost a week at JWT. I am attached to JIMMY NEO head of design. Hes an awesome dude who shows no arrogance,and pack with tons of agency experince. Am honoured to be working under his supervision. A little background about this cool fella, he started out his career at Saatchi&Saatchi SG, but before that he was torn between having to choose BATEY/REDCELL or Saatchis, cause at that moment both were offereing him a position after his grad. In the end he choose Saatchis after advice from current ECD Mccan Erickson SG but soon Bateys NG TIAN IT. After which he spend another 1 year at DDB SG and then was offered to work at Saatchi&Saatchi Beijing for 3 years before landing back in SG early this year, to head JWT's BTL section, just stepping in to JWTs sg office he has already gunned down a couple of awards for his ambient and print ad at both CCA and SOOA. Seeing the winning streaks that they are having, I can't help to also contribute a little of something.

Well a little more to add about Jimmy is that hes the trendiest guy in JWT spotting all the luxurious labelled apparels on him from prada to gucci to Commes Des Garcon to omega watches.*faint* Next comes ericka choo the copywriter from the BTL team, well a really cute ger who loves boozing and smoking so much that she falls sick if she dosen't booze for a day. Hahaha Amazing rite! Well I thought so too. Work for me dosen't seem to be too hectic. But this dosen't signify that JWT has got no job. Jobs were coming in, every creative(ART DIRECTORS)in the office were like each tending to 3 - 4 job files a day for each of their respective client they are servicing. Well to all those Creatives there I only have one word for them "AWESOME".

Had the opportunity to shake the hands of ANG SHENG JIN who won the new art director of the year 2005 as well as ELISA TAN new art director of the year 2006. How cool is that. Both were house under 1 of the hottest agency in Singapore at the moment everyones an award winner there. Well I felt so honoured to be able to be in there!(hahaa)

Well I am currently working on a name card for a photographer which I can't disclose it now.(just a hint a famous commercial photographer in sg) Hope I can add em into my portfolio after its been done! haha...prior to that was working on the women cycling team project with Jimmy. Had the opportunity to drop by the DI house with Jimmy to look at the stuff, woa that was and great learning experince, were treated like guest there, the admin there got us drinks and stuff. Cool! Saw Adrian at Shutterbug, cause the DI house and photo studio are linked awesome yea! But the place they are situated at sucks. Met Hon the famous photographer in Shutterbug, did many shoots for many agencies. Jimmy says hes a nice fella who takes care of green horn creatives. Jimmy was so welcomed there, everyone there showed him the love man, just like an old friend there probably due to his very friendly personality, thats what I also have got to learn from him being cool. Awesome!! So much to blog about my short 4 days there but I know some things are meant to keep a mum which you guys have just got to go imagine it yourself.

Am still waiting for my own computer in the office, every art director there is using a G5 I hope I get 1 too. Cause I was given an emac on the first day, which is for copywriters. Damn!

So MA LU, just got to know peeps do read my blog. Hahaha am really sorry to those who has been reading my entries for the grammer, vocab, spelling, puncutation and so on so for.....I promise to write in better english I hope, and if you guys still can't understand and you know me personally, probably it would be better if I could relate it to you when I see you.

Yes coming back to the event that happen last evening. It was the last event that I will be organising with my comptatriots from Ang Mo Kio police division Hq PNS office. Many fond memories I have with the office, with times of good as well as times of bad. Remember those time, back in the old office the happy hours(only peeps from our office knows what it stands for)once the bell is ringed the office turns into a wrestling ring, I even came up with a song for it with Vincent haha.

Well its gona be a long entry today, but before I go on a big shout outz to these dudes who accompanied through my NATIONAL SERVICE well without them life in the office would be so so boring: SSSGT YATIM(MY OC), SSGT HAIRI(THE OLD GINGER), SCPL DIN(THE KID WITH AIRBORN), SCPL VINCENT(THE DUDE THAT UTTERS MORE VULGARITIES THAN ANYONE I HAVE EVER MET), SCGT NAZRI(NOW IN NTU), SCSGT FARHAN(THE ROCK), SC FAIZAL(WHO IS REPLACING ME WITH THE TITLE OF GAY BOY IN PNS OFFICE), JACK(THE ONLY OTHER CHINESE IN THE DEPT CURRENTLY AND A BOY WHO ADORES MUSIC) and of caues last but not least SGT KRISHNA(WHO GAVE US ALL BUT TROUBLE)...ermm did I leave anyone out, if I do probably you weren't that close to me.

After all the DINGS and DONGS at the station for 1year 8mths. I could vivdly remember the day I entered Ang Mo Kio Police division Hq with the mangkok(bowl in malay) hairstyle of mine, being one of the greenhorns in the station on that 4 March 2005. I have come a long way to start touting ORD LOH! back then the craze was POP LOH, if you could recall from my older entries....Hahaha. From my first few entries I remember how I complain those days in TRACOM and so much of other stuff. Didn't know I could be such a nag, but well through this blogging thingy I finally understand a little more of myself.

Was chatting with Jialing yesterday noon, she was asking me what I miss about the office for awhile I was dumbstruck. But awhile later everything came flushing into my mind again, peeps like Hairi and Din, fuck they were with me all the while in PNS office they are the people who I would really miss. Remembering those long lunch breaks we took together, going out for mutabucks and teh tarik at Upper Thompson Road! GOSH! gone were those days!( Thanks dudes for sharing all the best places for muslim cuisines, probably would not get a chance to savour them again) Those are things I will remember.

Probably its only when you are leaving all this fond memories comes flashing back in your mind. Had a mini gathering with my mates back in camp. Though we haven seen each other for like a year or so, there seems to be endless things to chat about. Spoken to Chee Mun on the phone, talking about his life and my life...everything was cool. But the same qs Jialing pose to me Chee Mun asked as well...haha ladies and gentlemen I am not gay man, I just got no luck in this. Hahaha.

Well back to the dinner, was a cam whore that night. Posing in pictures everywhere, for the first time hahah I was doing that. Went up on stage receiving a plaque from my NS commander Mr. Leng Seng Choon(Regional Accounts Director for UOB KAY HIAN research) an important man...haha. All smiles and grin from me and Din who were the recepients for the plaque. That feeling was great, hope to do it again some time soon!!*grinz* Finally for once through this event I felt appreciated with the clapping of the hands from the audience I felt real good, knowing that my hard work in this 1year 8 mths wasn't for nothing. Cheers! Almost every PNSmen from Foxtrot heard my voice before, I could from some faces they were like astonished to finally see my face....hahaha. Hoping to receive the photos from that night from my colleagues as the photos were in their dcam, apart from 2 other photos that were taken on polariod.

Coming back to reality, will be reporting for work at JWT next Tuesday. So excited, I really really hope that the peeps at JWT are friendly and of cause approachable, where I can really be able to pick up some true skills in creative designing and contuine my quest and dream.....Hahaha.

Well thats all folks journaled down quite alot of crap, hope you guys can understand, tried minimising the amount of mistakes. Hope its still readable and you peeps can understand...if you don't then that your businesss....muahhahahaha*evil laughter*.

Was on my routine prowl in my mailbox, just as I open the mailbox I saw an email send in by FLESHIMP. It was an email informing me that my design that was shortlisted didn't make it through to the last 5. But my design made the cut for a run of T-shirts under the Fleshimp Label. Ermm well in a few months time guess you peeps will see my design walking on the streets. Hahaha....Not even sure if peeps would dig into my design. Hahaha, but of cause I would still myself by buying 1. Well if you ask whether I am disappointed, well who wouldn't be...but well graphic design isn't my forte, was just trying to express my ideas. But there were really some great designs by the other peeps, am diggin into the graphics. Some were awesome while some like mine were abit too cliche...well thats the least what I think it really is.

Well the Saatchi & Saatchi network was the most awarded network with its agencies in NZ gunning 17 awards, SG 10 awards and Aus 6 from the different categories. Other mentionable SG agencies that won a medal or more were O&M who won quite a few as well and followed by MCcan Erickson SG and JWT SG each gunning a bronze. But of cause all eyes are tune for next years D&AD, CLIO, THE ONE SHOW as well as Cannes Festival. With D&AD and CLIOs already naming their juries for the coming years competition. Hahaha

Well a note, I am going to DEKIT TOMORROW. hahahaha! Yea ORD LOR!! Pink I/C come back to PAPA.....I am missing you.

Well the medal tally is up. Just saw the post on the Chairman for this years competition's blog. Some differences in the standing. This year each design discipline has a best of show gong given out. Last year there was only 1 for the overall best which JWT won it with the ad by ex-cd Joseph Tay(currently BATES Head of Art) for the art work Listerine.

Well look at the difference, there are agencies that improve in the standing as well as agencies that went down in the rankings, well for some more ill fated agencies they did not even win anything this year round. This once again show which are the agencies that are creative. Coming back to the comparison, JWT slide down 2 placing to 3rd in the medal ranking gunning 2gold, 6silver, 8bronze and 7finalist. Bates moved up the most by 10 placing followed by Ogilvy&Mather moving up 6 places. Commendable agencies are DENTSU SG & Black Design they won't even in the tally last year. And of cause not forgetting Jonathan Yuen with his winning website, you can view it here http://www.jonathanyuen.com the illustration, sound and web design is superb.

I could understand why steven said Ogilvy&mather and Kinetic were challenging who had the most award that night looking at the no. of medals and certs they received its not that hard to imagine. Hahaha. Hope to view some pics at 4as.

Plans on catching a movie was like demolished after the usual jim gang members were all occupied with their commitments. Peeps like Ian working and then Ah seng had to leave for the land of aussie this afternoon, crazy sotong ever so busy. But still at the end met up with Darren and his gf Yuting as well as my Bud Steven. We had dinner at TCC, and then drop by at a place near Steven's place PAHANG RD OR PAHANG LANE its near ALWIWI Street. That place is ever so charming, had wine at this store that looks like a wine cellar wonderful place for peeps who enjoy red wine(finest things in life), sited at a dim lighted table the ambience was cosy. After the drink, steve was complaning about being hungry so we decided to walk down the street, in search for a place to eat. As we walk down we came across many shop houses where people sat outside smoking seesha, it got us all so excited. Well when was the last time I had that well guess it was 2 years ago. Hahaha. Well the AROMA of the smoke was nice. Probably we will visit that place again for a bonk.

The roads at Arab Street look pretty much different from the ones in the daytime. Everything seems so serene. In the end we dropped by a muslim store had chicken mutabuck(not sure if its spelled this way), teh terak and also Mee Pattaya. Sat there till 1 and all of us were scared away by a flying cockroach. SCARY! I hate those black fucking creatures, always lurking around.

Overall had a interesting nite out. But of cause how could I not update alittle on the Creative Circle Award 2006 which Steven was present last night. Saatchi & Saatchi Sg won the much acclaim BEST OF SHOW award. The images monsters a little scary but the copy does make alot of sense.

The copy for one of the ad reads like this:

According to Steven O&M SG was the biggest winner this year, they won it big in both the ad as well as interactive categories with trophies that stacked in a heap. Following that was KINETIC advertising, fuck they are favourites at all local award show in gunning some metals, so at CCA it was no exception that they do well. Agencies who received awards were BATES SG whose Nokia Ad won the BEST OF ILLUSTRATION, which as follow MCCAN ERICKSON SG, BBDO SG and of cause last but not least JWT SG. Black Design won the BEST OF SHOW award for the DESIGN category, for anyones info BLACK DESIGN's CD is none other then JACKSON TAN of the infamous design collective PHUNK:STUDIO.

Well hope the medal tally would be up on the website. Probably we will have a clearer picture of the overall tabulated format.

Yawnz time to go to bed already eyes are getting droopy.

Woke at 0815hrs...was asking myself WTF?... why did I wake up so early, am I not suppose to enjoy the finest time in life now. Well guess I will still be engaged in this self imposed question for the next few morning till the 13th.

Read the newspaper as usual, and was excited to see 3 full pagess on articles that was talking about this new book called ideas which has interviews of CDs from all the MNC advertising agency. After reading the articles it made me even more eager to find out more and dabble further into the industry. Would sure love to get the book "IDEAS". While it was in the midst of production I was aware of it exsistence, through my good buddy Darren who was part of the crew who went around getting the Creative Directors potraits at their individual offices.(Like students going aournd getting peeps to buy the flags)

Well would love to see the outcome of prints in the showcase. Well gona use this 2 days to search for it. Hopefully with some success. Well tomorrow would be a good day to start, as I will be having reasons to rise early and go down to town to take some photos for some ideas. Yea! Alone.

Looking forward for the results to be posted next week on the Singapore creative circle awards 2006 held at RITZ CARLTON last night, would like to find out if JWT Singapore had the honour of retaining its title again. I sure hope it would.

Oh ya before I forget, the last 2 prints I mentioned in the entry, I almost forgot to put them up. So here it is.
This first one in my opinion of the boxer doing his prayer is the best. Probably it just gives us all a reality check. Its more then an ad its an art. Hahaha.."THE ANXIETY".

Got another Playstation piece, I've got a friend who says it was good. But to me, I couldn't catch what it was trying to say. It took me a while to actually understand thorugh his verbal explanation. Well in my opinion this ad is trying to hard to let its consumer know what they are trying to sell.

I have no idea which agency did it. Cause it wasn't fantastic didn't really borhter to know who initiated the idea, just wanted to make a comparison between the two. GOOD/BAD.

Shared some TVCs in my last entry, now on PRINTS(my favourite).

A rather wierd ad by Leo Burnett Singapore. Nice crafting of images but idea wise concur with some other commentors from other peeps, rather easy to understand but punny.

A couple more ads that I think were great ideas.

They all PLAYSTATION ADS, I love them makes me feel so young again. With their extreme stroylines. One is from TBWA/Paris and the other from BBDO Chillie but from two different continents, it once again tells you how games show no language barrier in advertising.

RED BLOCKS, BLUE BLOCKS,GREEN BLOCKS...Well legos has been my all time favourite plaything, I assume for most boys back at my age it was the most "IN" toy. Every little boy had the dream of building up a big architecture or some wierd looking structure, well those well abstract. For some indeed Lego was a tool that helped them looked further in life, for others it was just some toy that accompanied them through their childhood days..hahaha.

Noted some interesting ads by the ever so strong showing in ad awards SAATCHI & SAATCHI Singapore for LEGO and the FCB, Johannesburg, well many has compared. So here I am making my 2 cents worth of comment. Well the campagin by Saatchi and Saatchi Singapore looks impressive but the Cannes Winning ad by FCB Johannesburg looks just as neat.
But in my opinion, the Lego print ad by FCB has a much better concept in terms of ART DIRECTION as well as IDEA. In the ad it showed me what LEGO really is. Well I've always percived LEGO as a toy that is for kids who use their own imagination to build whatever they feel should be fitted in the blank canvas given to them. In that print ad by FCB I saw that, though it was a simple ad but it made me stop there to look closely at it and think for awhile. With just that periscope in the sea of blue blocks it makes me just want to find out more about LEGO. As for the Saatchi Lego ad, it wasn't too hard to figure out what they were trying to tell me, probably because maybe in this comparison LESS IS MORE. With the scene of each print ad I could imagine what it is telling me, probably its an TTL(though the line) ad that dosen't require the audience to think too much. The team at SAATCHI had it going they understand what LEGO idea was, but just couldn't execute out in terms of visual communication, I think thats why they lost out to FCB. Nonetheless both were very well crafted individual campaign and singles. Hope to see more coming.

Well yes yes I know, I said this blog would strictly be used as a journal for my critics for advertisment. But I just can't help it but to add in this guard turnout entry. Well it was one of those memorable moments I had in the SPF, and at last I am left with 2 weeks of service with SPF. Its hard not to tell myself its finally over, 2 years 2months of service is finally coming to a closing chapter. Just like the many unhappy/happy moments that happen before, it will all come to a full stop.

Was looking through some old photos I took back in the training days, everything seems fun but of cause at the same time stress having to come with studies as well as Physical Fitness. It was in the National Service that I have achieve so much in terms of mental and physical strength. Attaining feats that were once thought to be unachivable in my dictionary. Having a time to finally sit down on my desk shafing aside all those g3 files was a pleasent sight. Finally was able to take a breather, my successor is finally here.

Been busy with my guard turnout and in fact its the reason I am jounralling something that is not about critics and praises. Well digressing too much. Had the opportunity to have a taste of the arms drill, becuase of the Commissioner Visit to our division. Its not so hard to imagine that the days and hours spend for practices just for a 5-10mins saluate with the M-16 to welcome the commissioner. Well it kind of helped me to relieve the moment when i was about to POP, and now my before I ORD I am given a chance to do it again. Well took this opportunity to commenmorate my ORD, which I took the practices quite seriousily. Was glad to know some new friends just before I go off, cheers to that. As for now leaving some footmarks of the event that took place. With more to come.

Many local awards were held for the past 2 months like the SOOA(SINGAPORE ADVERTISING AWARDS), and the other one which is the tourism ad award thingy which I forgot its name. But well strong showing from JWT singapore definetly,hope to see it gun some international awards like ONE SHOW, CLIOs and Cannes. With the likes of the leadership by the creative adman Tay Guan Hin its no wonder JWT is rocking the industry again. I would say: " ITS COMING ALIVE, ALIVE". So fortunate to have met this great legend along the way.

On the left thats Jimmy Head of Design at JWT and of cause the one in blue in the middle thats ALI SHABAZ CD of JWT Singapore.

Well again another podium pic with the JWT dudes CD ALI SHABAZ and ECD TAY GUAN HIN who also had an awesome night at the SOAA that night gunning that postcard ad he showed me the last time when I visited him at his office.

The Hall of fame 2006 just ended last night, must be a night of glitery advertising stars gracing the event. Well most of the categories award winners were expected to win by the obvious agencies and peeps. But to my surprise Saatchi and Saatchi SG outwitted Y&R singapore for this years title as ADVERTISING AGENCY OF THE YEAR. Saatchi got the great honours JWT Sinagpore had its own found glory being the most awarded agency of the night. With CD ALI SHABAZ winning the advertising professional of the year, the producer daphne winning young professional of the year, the Poster Campaign of the Year: ‘Shell Price Police’ – JWT Singapore and Maxus Singapore and Ambient Marketing Campaign of the Year: Unilever ‘Organics Waterfall’ – JWT Singapore(this was a sure winner after it won the recent BEST OF SHOW AT SOAA 2006).
For the CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR AWARD it was a tough fight between 3 very prominent CDs in SG, anyone would recognize their faces at an instance, there were 4 of them, but amonst the 4 only 3 stood out prominetly there are as follow NG TIAN IT (ECD MCCAN ERICKSON SG), ROBERT GAXIOLA(ECD BATES SINGAPORE and chairman for the upcoming CCA) last but not least TAY GUAN HIN(REGIONAL ECD SOUTH EAST ASIA JWT) all 3 of them were like my heroes. All 3 that I have mention were chairman for the Creative Circle Awards 2006 , with the 2 most recent by MR. NG TIAN IT and Mr.Robert Gaxiola.

Well next fantastic show would be the Creative Circle Awards, which would be on the 3 Nov 2006 at the RITZ CARLTON HOTEL. Well it would be a very grand affair. With star studded judges and glittery ad titles,a definate lookout is the NEW ART DIRECTOR AWARD as well as NEW COPYWRITER award, really wonder who would it be this year. As last year was won by ANG SHENG JIN when he was still with 10am Comms for the young art director award, and the award school winner COPYWRITER from Mccan Erickson Gayle Lim, which from there on pair up for the YOUNG LOTUS AWARD 2006 held during the adfest in pattaya. Well so anticipate, would JWT Singapore be able to retain that big gong I saw at their agency. We will all have to wait and see. Till then.

Sad to hear from Steven that AD PLANETgroup has no shortlisted entries, they did have some real cool guerilla ambient ads, I presume they are for the super glue ad which is in my opinion something creative not absolutely original but of cause creative. Wish them better luck in the coming LIAA and YGA in London and Australia this coming month as well.

well finally thought of journalling down and critics of ads rather then m life which is getting more and more mundane. Prolly because I am not very radical person.

Been a big fan of JUAN CABRAL's work, too bad he wasn't able to make for this years CCA jury. Hes the creative partner down at FALLON UK and the brain child behind the highly awarded SONY BRAVIA TVC AD. I simply love TVC on the balls, raining balls were all rolling down the streets in SAN FRANSISCO I can imagine that sight. Accompanied by the beautiful piece of song by José González's interpretation of 'Heartbeats' - originally performed by Swedish band, The Knife. Fuck, the tunes is still looping in my head. There were some scenes in the TVC which really amazed me. Like the frog leaping out of the pipe after the balls came in contact with the pipe.

Like what I always say, since you are only as good as the most recent things you've got! Well the new TVC by the same cast came up with yet another stunning piece of TVC that amazed the industry. With the stunningly beautiful colors shown. What do you get when you combine 70,000 litres of paint, 358 single bottle bombs, 33 sextuple air cluster bombs, 22 Triple hung cluster bombs, 268 mortars, 33 Triple Mortars, 22 Double mortars, 358 meters of weld, 330 meters of steel pipe and 57 km of copper wire together? But well I just hope the colors thingy will end soon for the SONY Bravia commercial in UK cause I think its getting pretty boring already. Though this 2 ads I would say were technically profound, but at the same time where concept and idea is concern its getting pretty boring. Well its coming, yes its coming closer and closer. All my dudes are so so excited. Damn! Can't wait till its finish, everything was breezed pass so fast. Before I got enlisted I was so afraid things would not work out like it would now, though during my service there were many tide both high and low. I still vividly remember the person who told me not to worry when I got enlisted. Well some things will be buried in my heart. Well finally we are all getting our freedom back. Yea!

Yes yes can't wait to get into the workforce. I know it would be very tough but of course at least I am doing something which I like and not something that I am being forced to do.

Wanted to write this entry yesterday, but well as usual being the lazy me I wrote off the idea from my mind. Well had being hopping for a reply from Ali Shabaz for almost a month, finally my wait has paid off. Thank God, its really something I had a strong intution. Well would be waiting for a further mail from Mercy JWT's creative service officer to email me with more information.

Well coming back to sunday's event held at Clarance's house its so awesome. We invited, they came. Coolest gathering we had in ages, well the last time so many of us gathered together, well I don't recall. Hahaha....its been so long.
Always wanted to have a gathering but never successful. The whole jim gang were there, and best of all we even invited their GFs. But well everyone were like a big family we knew each other and everyone were accomodating. Hope no one was bore out.

Well a few shout outs to peeps like IAN who sacrifice his time by helping Clarance and his grandma from 9am all the way till 5 plus when i met up with him to get drinks. Also to Darren and Yuting who helped to get some grocceries when we had some last minute fill ins. Last but not least my dear Ganwei, who some food in with his gf. All had an enjoyable evening I could see, catching up on some really good old times over dinner just like a big family.

Well some things in life is not measured by the value. Half a roast duck = $12, food = $100, a bottle of vodka = $120, a table full of buddies company = priceless.

Well should i consider myself lucky...I am moving into a new OFFICE...but guess what I've only got the opportunity to use it for 1.5mths. Got a few more weeks to endure before I officially finish my NS liability, waiting for this day to come like forever! Seen so much experince so much, wierd people doing wierd stuff as well as unreasonable demands and complains all this is what I've personaly experince during my stint there. Many might think its nothing but to me it was something I've never seen!

So much to journal down and so much to talk about, but well it would be too boring to write em all down.

Was made to move 1900 files from my office, shifting them around the station, as usual I was sweating like mad. The boxes we were made to carry were heavy and I dare say it weighs around 7-10kg per box. Of cos with the boys we had fun moving them up and down. We even had a mini go cart race with the crates we use to store the files. It was all fun. All this would not have happen without the planning office without letting us know that the contractors blangla we not helping us to move the dockets together with the compactor. Everyone were like pretty pissed off with the fact, espcially when the rest of em are all muslim and I am the only cheena boy in the office.

Well, had nothing to say about our Head as she is never concern about her men. She is the sort of superior who never sides her subordinates and always exposing them to outer interference. Well that sucks and also made everyones morale in the office low. None of us like her whether its the other office or my office.

Well in another 5 weeks I will be officially stepping down from duty. I am so looking forward to that day to come.
I really hope that the company that is offering me the Internship would reply my mail to him. Please pray for me!! Please Please Please.

a Fantastic outing

Finally able to get the composure to journal down another not so interesting entry. Haha jus jking. Well was talking about the bangkok trip, and now I am back from it. Well the trip was quite fulfilling, bought stuff at great prices(at least for me).

Day 1
Left SG on friday (11/08/06) for Bangkok, thanks to my dear friend Ganwei who gave me a ride to Changi Airport if not it would be a long trip from my place to the airport. Collected our tickets from the Jetstar counter, well everyone were going out on a holiday together so we were all really thrilled at the thought of it. In our hearts everyone was wondering how the Jetstar plane would look like in the interior cause we received many not so good comments about it. But we wanted to have a feel for ourselves. Well, luckily Mel had experince in choosing the seats and we were all not disappointed with our seats on our way to bangkok. We got seats that were spacious, it was at the centre of the plane at the emergency exit points. But I was pretty angry with myself because I had acrophobia, which meant I had to give up my window seat for Ian who slept almost slept through half of the trip. That Sucks.

When we reached Bangkok Intl airport, its all about waiting...waiting and waiting. Everything in Bangkok has to wait, theres nothing we do that dosen't relate to waiting, we were all so fustrated the customs was stuffy and people were like waiting to get their passports checked and chopped before exiting. We waitied for like an hr before we got our passport chopped after which Steven's and Mel's lauggages went amiss. We walked from T1 to T2 and then from T2 to T1 just to look for their baggages which were left lying around the conveyer belts, well I guess there wasn't much customer service involved in this crappy airport.

Went to wait for a cab, which took us another 30mins to get one afterwhich a 45min trip to our Hotel Indra Regent, the traffic there was horrendous everywhere is cars and bikes congestions are everywhere. When we eventually reached the hotel, it took us another 20mins to get our room, to top off our misery we were given rooms on the 6 floor which were the smoking rooms. FISH! But well to content ourself, we threw our baggaes and left for our shopping. Walked to this shopping mall called the platanium mall, which sells mainly teenage gers stuff. pretty disappointed, the mall was big but nothing much for guys like us. So went to have some food at their food court, nice varieties of local delights, it was a first for me to see a food court all non halal every store sold pork. We ordered quite a bit, if i could remember an oyster omelette, beef ball soup, grilled pork, pork salad and omelette rice. Afterwhich, we walked all the way to Discovery Centre.

The walk was about 30mins, steven and I were like sweating profoundsly. When we eventually reach the mall we were so glad. Finally air con, the place was relatively small, its the norm shops that we see em in Singapore, except for a few furniture stores we sells some pretty cool designer accessories. Walk on to Siam centre which was like beside it, saw some pretty awesome things there to, like a concept makeover studio which was like 2 stories, but what was unigue was that the whole stores exterior was in glass panel. Well the peeps inside look pretty cool as well, with some guys spotted in dreadlocks and the not to mention ladies pretty as well. The equipment they used were also all very up to date, like broncolors lights and also mamiya RZ67 with a digital pack, and not mention a MAC G5. Walked a little more and saw a ED HARDY boutique and comparing to the one at hereen I think ours suck. Finally we came to Siam Paragon, I tell u this place is awaesome, its 6 stories high and everything inside is designer label, from Gucci to Levis boutique and Siam Paragon's dept mall, its just as crazy everything that is young and trendy are all house under this place. From their local labels to international brnads all could be found there, the place is fantastic. Food stores and restraunts were plentiful. Everything there was just great. Afterwhich had dunkin donuts there and went to pray at a shrine with steven which was near this building that is like all SG label, that houses BLACKJACK a real big one and club21 boutique which i regretted not brining my club21 members card along if not i would have bought something there as well. Hahaha.
Afterwhich we walked back to our hotel, bought ourself some pork burger at Mac Donalds and savour them in the hotel.

Day2

Day 2, we got up real early to have breakfast and then immediately after that walk around the hotel before embarking our mission to Chatuchuk Weekend market. Hell that place was hot, everything and anything could be bought from that market and at cheap cheap prices, things like trendy t-shirt to home ornaments everything could be found there. Bought lots of stuff there steve tees toys, key chains, gifts as well as shorts and shoes. We walked from morning till the late afternoon before we finally decided to call it a day. Rest awhile at the hotel and then finally left for MBK centre. well that place is just as big, it houses everything from computer parts to textile and apparel. Went to have japanese food and then later bird nest and sharks fin soup. Walked around till 5 plus in the evening before leaving for Suan Lam Night Baazar, sat this on the ferry, caught a glimpse of the skyline in Bangkok. Walk abit more and bumped in to the least most expected person JEK our ex NAFA Lecturer he was with a friend there. Haha Steven chat awhile with him and we left, Ian bought some mango and ate them in the hotel.

Day3

Everything was more relax, the dudes went to have our so wanted Thai Massage and Mel the only girlie went shopping on her own at Platanium centre. Haha the massage was fantastic, both Ian and I got a ger to massage for us whereas Steven got a guy haha. The massage was fantastic, all my bones were like snapping when she massaged me but overall the feeling was great and whats best is that it cost only SGD6 for a person haha the session lasted for 1hr well worth it. Went back to the hotel to meet Mel but on our way we walked around the market beside our hotel, woah there were pure gems inside the hideous lanes. Bought jeans for like 20 baht was like a steal, the dudes each bought the same jeans. Afterwhich we went back to the hotel for a rest and finally took a cab to Siam paragon, where we had a feast at their famous chain of steam boat outlet the, we ate like a king and their service there was excellent they used palm tops to order the food which I think was great, excpet for my wait fo a bowl of rice haha, probably it was the communication error. After all this we walked along their mrt track and reach central world it was a freaking big mallbut so unfinished. Ermm well write again tonite got to prepare myself going out to meet friend...

weeks draws closer

Days draw closer to ORD! Everything seems like yesterday, like the first day I joined FOXTROT. Though my stay at FOXTROT was the most pleasent one but I sure had my fair share of fun as well as knowing some really fun peeps. Well everyone in the office was always busy with their stuff, and till now nothing much changed. Its in this sort of enviroment you actually get to see different sort of people, pretty interesting this new hobby of my I think I am going obesesive over it, observing each individual doing their thing. Hahaha.....

Went for the NDP preview duty, was pretty excited over the occasion as I would be OPscon to ECHO division to helpout. My TL for the day was SI ROYSTON wella very short fella but physically fit to the max, heard from DIN he was the 1st batch of UNPKF(Unite Nation Police force). Well he was a joker man despite the senior rank that he is holding. He mingles with his man, talks with that kiddy attitude. I would rate him with a Cool Factor.

We were brief on what we were suppose to do at the station. As I alight from the bus, I saw SGT Jason Kwek he was also on duty. Haha, but his job was much simpler just stand at the entrance where the supporting units and GOH contingent enter. Stop tochat with him for awhile before instructions were given to report to ECHO's sector at the National Satdium. Got our gas mask and stuff like that, was then led to the tentage outside. We were assign to conduct security checks on suspicious bags, which meant we were left to our discretion to check each individual spectator's belonging if they deem to fit the description given by the PHQ. Welltime passed fast espcially after 1500hrs, the crowd came, frommy gate we were expecting about 10k strong crowd entering, evenly shared among the 3 lanes that our division is incharged. Huge numbers of spectators swarm in, the army boys(GUARDS) were working like crazy giving out the goodie bag and the ushers were like so busy peeling the tickets, wish I could help them but well orders were given to mind our own business, and so thats what I did well I do pity them espcially the army boys giving out the goodie bags.
I guess our duty was quite relax cause once the gates closed we were given orders from ECHO division to rest at their OE designated corners. As usual dinner was KFC, well they should change abit. I finally know the difference between FOXTROT and ECHO division. Hahaha, FOXTROT is always concern about the welfare of the me, whereas ECHO they are more result orientated. From the OE rooms I can see the difference, Echo's was damn lousy, so cramp and hot whereas FOXTROT's OE corner was like fully air conditioned which we never really did get a chance to enjoy. All was well that day, so nothing much to complain about, the only thing that was crazy was the standing, legs were killing me when I reach home. That sucks!!!

Well another week to go and off to Bangkok. I want to visit CREATIVE JUICE/G1's office I've got the address already. Dying to go there and see.....hahaha. Hope to write another entry before I leave for my Holidays!

woah! haven been inputting any entries for about a month. Finally got the chance to clear my leave, well having said that I have about a month or so of entitled leave to clear. Been so busy with my own portfolio as well as preperation for holidays with my friends to Bangkok. There is so much things to prepare for the trip, like booking of air tics and booking of hotel all this has just been done. Whats left to be done is to plot out the places we are gona visit.

Everyone seems excite at first, but recently Ian was talking on the phone with me. The anxiety and excitment has seem to have died down probably its because his friends who has just visited Taiwan brought back too much goodies. But still we are glad that ORD is drawing closer for everyone of us, including myself though mine would come 3 months later then them haha...

My cousin just got wed that day. Attended both his church ceremony as well as the chinese feast in the evening. It was definetly a glorious day for him as well as a happy one, haha I am talking rubbish right of cos its a joyous one. Well there seems to be so much things happening this month.

Well been really busy working on ideas and concept for myself. Doing shoots with Darren whos doing the photography and for myself art directing every scene, its really fun despite the sweating and stuff. Really proud of the photography work we produced there would definetly be more to come as we are alreayd coming up with some other ideas for our next shot.

Passed by Red Dot museum on sunday with darren. Everything looks rather old from the out side, but in the inside everything looks new. But still abit eery, maybe its because of the rich history it has as a Traffic Police HQ.

Like I so anticipated SG finally was awarded a GOLD LION yesterday at CANNES. Well it came from my prediction, the strongest agency in SG Ogivily SG. The winning work is for EAST TIMOR, well the illustration was fantastic the colours and art direction were great it truly brought out the colors of EAST TIMOR despite its unrest turmoil.

The other asia agency to bring back a gold lion for press was from thailand, the agency won the gold lion for the work for KODAK, it was also BY O&M. SAATCHI&SAATCHI too won a silver lion in press and a bronze lion for the cyber lion. MCcan Erickson too won a bronze Lion for their GNC ad. Well cheerios....well all in all we got a strong showing at this years CANNES award. cool..we are definetly up at the top with ogilvy singapore being the leader of the contingent at all the international award shows.

Back to the international ground. Mr. Droga again showed that only the best of the best could work with him. With his hotshop just open recently they won a grand prix for the cyber lions sharing this honour with CRISPIN & BOGUSKY, which i thought they didn't win any awards this year. But well I am sure DROG5 will be the next hotshop for years to come.

nothing to much to blog about, so entry was getting lesser and lesser everyday. But recently got myself very enthsiastic on the Cannes award, well it got me glue to the monitor to check the results once they are being announced. So far it was rather disappointing for SG's creative shops as most of the big guns didn't make too big of an impact comapred to last year. Though ASIA did really make ourself noticed as a whole, with 3 Malaysia Hotshops(JWT MALAYSIA, SAATCHI&SAATCHI MALYASIA as well as ARC MALAYSIA) gunning 3 gold lions each respectively not to mention silver and bronze lions, well malaysia trully rawked this years Cannes. Well amongst the few that they have won, I was rather impress with JWT MALAYSIA's ad for kleenex well it was a well done point of purchase for outdoor, the rest were just so so in my opinion.

Coming back to my homeland SG we won a total of 6 bronze, so far 10AM communication is the only one that is doing rather well. Garning a PROMO LION with its red bull puzzle promo item which looked really idea, well it rawks. Next comes the outdoor awards we could only achieve bronze which 2 for O&M, 1 for Leo Burnett and 1 for SAATCHI & SAATCHI. Let me elaborate more on the ads that won a bronze Lion well in my opinion all except for O&M ads were trully metaphor advertising which I basically understand it as the traditional ones who don't give shit to the audience, as for the other two BIC pens by Leo Burnett and LEGO by Saatchi they are more of the scammy sort of ads, less text more visual inscript. But well all the ads were really amazing, though they are all scammies they do make their point and they are trully stimulating which " I LIKE " hahaha......

Well looking forward to SG in tomorrow's reasult as the press category will be announced, well hope SG's agency will win some GOLD LION back. Out of the 63 shortlist in the PRESS category yet to be awarded a lion's agency's are MCcan Ericksson SG whom they send 2 corrsepondence to the festival itself (Ivan Hady Wibowo Head of Art & Craig Rosenthal Associate Creative Director), JWT Singapore, Bates Singapore, M&C Saatchi and DDB. Well all this are the biggest name in the S'pore creative hotshop's list. Well I have a strong feeling 1 agency or maybe 2 will be awarded a GOLD lion for their PRESS work. My bets are O&M's East Timor illustration ad and 1 of the economist ad(which i never seem to understand what it means) but nonetheless the art direction are fantastic, next would be SAATCHI&SAATCHI SG's Yamaha Bikes and also the last one which might be a silver at the least the MILO bars which is also by O&M(the same ad won a silver at the one show) would be great to see it win it one more time.
Well will corrsepond and blog more on the results for the PRESS category tomorrow. Cause we've got tons of SG's agency's work been shortlisted, which I think we would stand a high chance of getting the LIONS.

But overall what i deduce like I said in a previous entry Thailand has yet to make an impact on the world when it comes to print. Judging from all the big award shows, results has proven through D&AD, ONE SHOW & CANNES, SG is still a dominant force, in my opiinion if there is a force not to reckon with its definetly not THAILAND whom SG should be afraid but our neighbour MALAYSIA who has really shocken myself as well as I am sure all of the SG's ad creatives with its wonderful showing. Cheers to them!!!

Well going over to the International scene, well Australia had it all by winning the grand prix for DIRECT, with their LYNX ad. Next to mention is DROG5 by ex publicis worldwide CD David Droga the legend with its first win at cannes for Marc Ecko the street label winning a silver and a bronze with the same ad in the same category. Outdoor is really jam pack with lots of really cool work, JWT malaysia's kleenex slit campagin rawks, been enjoying what their CD Edwin Leong's team being doing cool work, I am sure Mr.Tay would be happy to see his malaysia's shop achieve. Next comes this ad by an australian agenyc for chupa chips the lollipop well nice colors and art direction no wonder all 3 work were featured nice job done. Finally an ad for Sony Playstaion from a south amercian agency haha...it was really cool showing a soilder in a battlefield bproning on the ground and looking at his necklace with a lady in a position of playing a game console, a follow up of the same campagin was a boxer before a mathc praying to a photo in a frame same thing a person playing a game console.....haha I got the idea instanly on what it was trying to relay. A ambient ad by JUNG VON MATT which I think was a germany creative shop came up with the mini ad, well it certianlly caught attention and itself a cult brand had the idea send across to each and everyone.....

What surprise me this time round is that, WEIDEN + KENNEDY and Crispin andd Bogusky did not had any ads winning anything or shortlisted...this makes me wonder why?

Well whatever it is I am looking forward to seeing the results for the PRESS category.......at CANNES
And i trully hope Argentina beat Netherlands.....and crush them......MESSIE MESSIE! Till tomorrow.

hard @ work

Another hard at work week. Lotsa of new ideas and exciting ideas to be executed this whole month, hope I can get all of this work done in time for my next session with Mr. Tay. Most of the ideas were really taken into much considerations and of cause some uderstanding of the product before execution. Got my IMAC which runs great, this signifies the don of a new age for me in terms of changing platforms. Indeed Mac's OS x RAWKS!!! Well the decision was rather and expensive one and I hope I won't regret it which I made a promise to myself that I would really strive hard to achieve my goal and dreams.

Spend my Sunday morning out in town taking pictures its been a really really long time since the last time I took my NIKON F100 out for a sun bath, though the weather that day wasn't the best, still I got some images that would be of great use to my projects. Every little photo session trip is like a mini tour around the urban jungle in town, I get to explore to places I would less likely visit. Like for this trip I actually ventured much into places I've never come across, walked around coller quay's old shop house's back alley which slowly lead me to the heart of raffles place, that place wasn't anyplace alien to me cause it use to be a very usual photo taking area back in those school days. But what made me excited was I finally got to know where CLUB STREET and ANN SIANG HILL was!!! Got a glimpse of that so mysterious place, walked around that area quite abit got to know where the design house ASYLUM was as well as the boutique VENUE was located. Which I happen to stumble upon PARADOX MEDIA a design firm set up by one of my reservist personnel, it was just located beside the ASYLUM. A very nice place, would say its quiet probably I was there in the early Sunday Morning. Very nice time there.....ermm probably I would do another trip of shooting this coming weekend as I 've still got TONs of other work that needs my attention.

ORD is drawing closer and it just send the thrill down my spine. Well I am just gona do my best to finish my project and get everything done for my portfolio.

Days just pass us by so fast. Another week has gone and everything seems like a breeze, there is so much to anticipate. Work is like never ending always appearing on my desk at work, how I wish I had some sort of magic spell that would just blast them away to somewhere I would never need to see them again. I really really wish all this dumb ass desk duty days would just finish up fast, on my calendar I could see my ORD days already....haha its like drawing closer and closer.

So much exciting things outside NS is waiting for me and I could see em. Gwen msged me on MSN and she sound rather excited cause she got herself into the SIM design course which I introed her....well felt really happy for her. I know she would be cause this would be her very first actual design course, despite her diploma in architecture from SP.

Caught the movie Da Vinci Code, well this movie I would probably rate it at 3/5. Why an average score well its not a show that is like a must must to watch but definetly a movie if you are a DAN BROWN's fan or at the least someone who wants to know what the hype is all about in this book. Personally I felt that the movie is something just for a laugh, after watching and then forget about it. Well its like too much crap I would not probe much into it but still some of the things in the movie is hard to digest. But well my dude got pretty much offended by it haha...and the little hints left for the traces were really very nice I would say....an average movie from an author with great respect.

well finally I could get my break now. Been having a very heavy work week, at last I see some time off in between. As the days draw closer to ORD many mix feelings, well it just tells me that the govt is no longer sheltering me anymore, I am finally entering the workforce. Harsh as it may seem but its afterall reality that I've got to face.

Well embraced almost 1 year all by myself, it all seems like yesterday. The first day I entered PA till now in division and in 6months time its final for me. Never thought I would be in this state very. Once again life showed me how interesting it really is and how everyone evolves.

Witnessed the COMMANDO's 3rd & 4th COY's red beret Ceremony. Well it was really a feat, 10 months ago they were at PRC where my Mum put on the JUNGLE HAT for my bro and now seeing him donning the red beret it was indeed the proudest moment for me, even thought I wasn't able to accomplish half of what my brother has done I am proud to have him as my brother. They accomplish some of the toughest training SAF has to offer like jumping off the place, treking in brunei's swamps and finishing the 35km and 72km route march. That enough to gain any men's respect for them. Well cheers to them. My bud Ian was there to perfomr for us, haha showing us his row in his battalion haha, really an eye opener espcially the GPMG that they fired it was awesome.

one week of hell

Yea!! 1 week of hell 2 weeks of hard work is finally all over. That was a real feat General Election 2006, haha I can proudly say I was part of the manpower managment team for this event, though everything wasn't going all smooth sailing but we manage to tide them through. Lost about 2kg, work during this 3 week was extremly heavy, having to come back on weekends and at time stayed back at work to continue the job. Hope everything will go slower, hope nothing much would happen for this week except for the attendance marking and admin stuff that I need to attend to this coming week, they are tough but compare it with the event that just pass its really not that significant. The crucial night for us was on friday, I practically work non stop for 48hrs with my APO, we only caught a wink at around 0330hrs but we were awaken by the horrendous ringing of my watch and handphones alarm....from there we work till 1400hrs and finally got relieve and went home to do my voting.

Reached the polling station, dead tired I tell you. I didn't even know which queue and line I should be walking to, thanks to the staff there who made it easy for me. Hahaha, watched the elections results with my mum and was pretty glad that PAP retained almost all the seats. But my focus was on my own GRC which was won by our Health Minister Mr. Khaw Boon Wan and Co. immediately I felt a sigh of relieve.

Went to basheer bought the campagin brief, and as usual walk around abit at muji after that looking for a note pad and also a pencil case but there wasn't any that was up to my liking so went off the place empty handed.

This issue of campaign brief was really interesting, amongst the articles were 2 very interesting ones. I would relate the one on JWT south east asia, cause it had my idol and my critic mentor JWT's ECD south east asia Mr.Tay it was like a dream come true, though the notice to meet him was late, but I told myself I would not miss anything for this session with him as hes really a busy man travelling around and judging the international work, i just had to attend the session with him.
Well I am sure JWT in SG will soar to greater heights under his leadership, with his huge array of rich experinces and awards won. Went to his office on FRIDAY, it was my first time at an ad ageny got and gally the place that place....arghh I immediately felll in love with, Mr Tay came out personally to welcome and brought me to his office, well got some pointers as well as some critics and also tips on improving my ads. He showed me around his department and the works around, it was a pretty new office I would say and the works that I saw were much of what I just saw in Campagin Brief I am sure they are gona win some metals this time. Ermm really looking forward to the next crtic session with him.

The next article well they were saying about SG losing their claims to being at the helmof print advertising in ASIA. It was rather a very critical claim and also controversial, they took the results from the ADFEST 2006 and made the comment, well just because 1 award show they determine that SG was losing its foothold at the helm when the big shows like clio awards, the one show, cannes and D&AD has yet to announce or even still in the midst of judging their awards. Well even in the nomination list in D&AD thailand only had one finalist and there wasn't even any other ads for the publication of their 2006 annual. Well they were making their remarks too early. I agree with Tham Khai Meng Regional ECD of O&M asia pacific and the BBH Tokyo's ECD and current saatchi saatchi ECD's comment as its too early to make the remark now as all the big shows has yet to be judged. No doubt THAILAND'S upcoming agency CREATIVE JUICE/G1 was the most awarded agency with their TAIMIYA ads but none other ads, but in SG O&M had their fair share of statutes for their ads on the ANGLICAN WELFARE COMMITTEE. Well I would wish to see the results of all the other big shows and shut all this idiots comments. I actually had lots of respect for them but after those comments by them well it made me think twice about their character. No wonder they say this industry is so bitchy.

Been so busy the whole week through, working on the GE matters. Work at home were not anything sweeter, projects were stacking up high, so much things to handle. Maybe its because of the ORD mood I am in.

well its another long weekend. With the election going on and all...been really following closely to the different party's rallies and speeches, i wasn't never a person whos interested in politics, just don't know why I am following so closely to this one. Well I am pretty supportive of PAP in my GRC though I am not a person who really supports total domination, but comparing the opposition who is fighting for my area constituency really makes me worry not only for my GRC but also I doubt the strength of the opposition party who came to contest for the place.

Bought the CONCAVE SCREAM's album yesterday, well they play some real nice experimental music. I must applause them for their great effort as well the cd cover it was fantastic, loved the whole package. Haha spend quite abit from my progress package and the NS allowance haha.

Got alot in my mind to think about, have lots of plans in mind am still trying to sort things out.

Just caught the GOSPEL OF JUDAS on National Geographic channel, well I would say its really enriching in terms of knowledge gain as well as other values. Well it talks about the matyr himself Jesus and of cause the man himself JUDAS.

Coming from a school with the teaching of Jesus Christ its really hard for me to resist that channel while I was doing my usual stunt channel hopping. When I came to that channel the story just caught my attention, and all all focus was on the TV. I got a deeper understanding of the gospel by Matthew, Luke, John and JUDAS. At time i really think that the historians are contradicting each other with words that seems profound by them.

There was this scene where they replayed a clip of a movie about Jesus and Judas talking, they really explain the modesty and respecet between the people. Its really something that we should all learn from, now i trully understand the graceful teaching of christ as a whole.

My bro called back from BRUNEI, many exciting stories I am expecting when he comes back to SG. Everyone at home is missing him, espcially my DAD and Mum well I would say myself as well but my mum was the one who is really anxious for his return...hahah but I could understand her feeling..

Been a bout a week since I wrote an entry here! Haven got any really interesting matters to share, well everyday since to be abit too norm. Going to work coming back home, work on my computers and gym workouts. Well its like abit too cliche, it seems like a normal routine for a geek. Well got to find some interesting matters to work on before i get cobwebs spun around my head.

Been having constant headaches, probably because of hundreds of letters I fold. Feeling so lazy ever since I finish my ORD IPPT, haha so sick of running in the evening, just feel like coming back from work and then just sit infront of my TV and just stare into it blankly! Yea I know it will make me fat someday, but I can't help it, I just feel so lazy, so is like on even days thats the only time where I work out on my free weights in the gym.

Oh ya! Yes did had an enjoyable weekend with dudes, espcially Ian who is back from his Atech, well had fish steamboat at a coffeeshop around Steve's place and it was desert at Chinatown, that was also good as well had mango sago by recommendation of Steve and then ah seng me Ian and steve went for a late night KTV session at sophia rd haha, sang till 3am and all were like dead tired haha. Guess we are all getting old.

Well having to relate all this its really tired now. Well signing off here......

well my table is overwhelm with books, papers tons of refrence materials. I cant even comprehand...fuck ermm got some ill images of my messed up table. I think I've got to start clearing before everything piles up like a waste land.

After look through the images, I realise I am having tons of black things, black pens black note pad, black tags. Only my IBOOK is white which made a difference on my table which seemingly look so moody...just like me so moody... passed by lornie road on thursday while on my way to bukit timah, saw her house well it brought back some fond memories espcailly the overhear bridge.....well all was well...just a sudden thought that I think would be good to jot down in my journal.

I cant even remember what I did this week... haha well maybe its a sign before every storm its always calm and peaceful. Well I guess its just the calmness you would endeavour first before the storms appears.

The new FY is just at my door step. Well would be busy as usual again starting from next week as the new troops will start appearing at our division's basketball court and whats crazier is that we would be having MASS IPPT from now on, regardless if they are regulars or NSmen all would be taken under the same strict way, so that means we can't give them chance anymore when we test em.

Just send my bro off to the airport, he will be going to Brunei for 3 weeks. Well he was rather feeling low due to the fact that he would be away and he cant go out with his friends. Haha but what to do, when nation calls you got to anwser haha...He bought lots of stuff for the trip. Well this makes me think hw much rubbish Ian and guys would need to bring for their Atech. Fuck I can't imagine...I was even telling my bro that the ops pay that commando is for such purposes like this haha....even my parent agreed haha had a dinner yesterday at this restraunt called SIAM Kitchen at causeway point, food was soso.. but really enjoyed cos we seldom get a chance to have everyone meeting up for dinner. Well gona miss my bro for like 3 weeks haha...till then.

Got my Progress package thingy received $600 together with another $100 for the NS bonus which means it will automatic go into my CPF..haha well it all came in just in time was still about to save for the august thailand trip with steven and co. haha....

Well feeling lethargic man, my eye lids are getting heavier and heavier as I am typing all this, forgive me if I have any grammer mistakes....cos I think I am really not thinking straight anymore, guess spelling mistakes will come in soon.....

well a turn off, went to WHITE ROOM yst that beautiful piece of pooch was gone. But wasn't really all upset, cos thoughts and uncertainties were like revolving around my mind. White was totally and upset, the things that Steven and I wanted were like all sold out leaving behind the debries of the unwanted....well walked around arab st. and as usual sweat like a pig....peeps were playing badminton outside their shops at Haji Lane cool sight, what added the coolness was Thesus Chan founder of the ad/editorial agency Works he was the spectating the game haha. Cheers to the down to earth attitude.

Met up with Mel and Ganwei later, had to bring Mel and Steven to the Italian Restraunt at UE sq. the ambience was really nice very romantic and quiet...everything was slow for that instance I felt the sernity in me calm and peacefullness haha...the owner was friendly and not to mention the pasta was fantastic...everyone had a hearty meal, but I guess Ganwei felt the greatest accomplishment having to win a complimentary desert from the boss, due to Ganwei being a regular there. After that nice meal, we set off for our movies at the new picture house that opened on Thursday. The place looks awe from the outside, but the carpark proves to be a nono for big cars, tight angles all round and really limited car park lots on the first few levels of the carpark...well the place was crowded as usual with peeps pouring from all over singapore coming to check out the new place. Had the opportunity to watch the movie the hills with eyes at thei grand cathay cinema, well the cinema was really big and it was like half full, haha my bro watche the 12am movie and I watched the 9.45 movie. The move was all gore but rather nice cinematography.

After the movie send Mel over to MOS, lucky she went off early didn't do much had dao huey at the old sch's neighbourhood till ard 1 plus that set off home. Well it was not the end for Steven and Ganwei though they continued to have desert after letting me off at kk hospital haha....

Welll so much for blogging for yesterday...nothing much happened today..so well will end my entry right here.

Well another week just breezed past me. It was a peaceful week, not much action happened in the station, well guess it was all good. Kept my diet and health status up. Was able to control my caffine addiction, due to the draining of stamina after too much consumption of caffine, well it was tough but I managed to endure. It was all due to my IPPT, was rather upset in not being able to attain a gold. Here are my results at the 5 mini stations, 1MIN situp 47reps, pullup 13, shuttle run 9.9sec, standing board jump 234cm and the final station which is also the crucial station 2.4km endurance run it was a disappointing 10.02min run. I had it all at 5 pts except my board jump and 2.4km it really suck. I was hopping for lesser then 10min within the 9min range at least. But well 100 bucks is still rolling into my account in another 2 mths time.

Finally got my protein supplements. Gona start consuming it next week at the gym. Haha, I am damn excited to pump it allout. Yea, and if everything goes well I am gona go for my Tanning again, the bronze effect is losing off quick got to get them baked up again fast.

Going to meet up with steven and mel later, hopefully get my fred perry shoes which i have been waiting for....haha

Well been a 4 days since my last entry. Well was talking about my 1st time experince for a wedding shoot, it was really exciting and of cause a learning experince. Again all credits for the photography work should be given to Ganwei, he was the man behind the Lens and the lighting with little assitance from me on the technical part. As usual shared the load for art direction with Ganwei. His eyes I've got to say are one of a kind he really sees things differently from us. Man his man for this job.

As promised some preview of the raw images we took and yet to be post edited for the client(richard and wife).

Waiting for the whole album of pics to be transported out from that CF card, cos for that day we took a total of 500++ shots and yet to go for selection.

ermm..so tired being out the whole day at Fullerton hotel for the photo shoot. It was really tiring. It was my virgin shooting with ganwei for wedding photography, the two of us were like so green to this wedding photography thingy. At the intial stage, back in shcool I was like wedding photography whats so glamorous about it. After today's session I finally understood why peeps get so addicted in shooting wedding photography, this people are definetly not people who were interested in glamour and fame. They are peeps who are really enthusiastic as well as passionate about their love to capture the special moments with the camera. I saluate them.

The whole day, Ganwei and I were feeling tired. But it was those lovely smile the bride and the groom had that really cheered and made our day. Well will be putting up some of those happy pics in the blog.

*yawn* got to go to bed...ermm guess I will journal today's event on another day. Cant stand my eyes are shutting....

Caffine caffine and more caffine everyday. Work cracking brains work cracking brains...this seems like a very routine life of mine. Seeking for that serenity I so much needed. Helplessly still waiting for anwsers from my queries, everyday seem so alike, probably its the every day similiar things that I do that makes me feel this way.

ORD seems close...still uncertain with most of things in life. State of turbulance is starting to irrupt in me again. Had my half day yesterday, well a well earned one. After a tedious and meeting with Deputy Commdr.
Before every meeting the whole room is always filled with tension and anxiety, things like whos going to be the next officer to get screwed by DY. But yesterday's meeting was still quite alright in terms, as most of the things that were discussed were things that we suggested by him and it was still in the midst of preperation.

Just before everything ended, I was pushed to a newly assigned job, which was the monthly meeting secretariat. Being the secretariat my job was to take down the minutes made during the event and turning them into the next meetings agenda. Well it was indeed something new, ermm it was something good I guess am able to polish my english in the process.

Still searching for my DKNY watch which DANNY bought. Well I love the big watch face, and the equally balanced black leather strap. It made the watch look so exquisite, well it was not some fucking make me look like a rich man's watch. Ermm hope to see it soon somewhere.

Ganwei wrote some really meaningful things in his journal for this korean girl. Well some words really brought back some memories of how I felt before....well they were really heartfelt words and it really kind of touched my hearts in someway. No wonder he was termed as a cassonova by Steven and Dudes...haha

Ermm tomorrow will be assisting ganwei for a wedding photo shoot at fullerton hotel, which I have to meet him at 0830hrs at fullerton hotel's lobby. Ermm guess I would be half awake, and most likely half dead through out the shoot haha... Will try to sneak some pics that we took and post em up in the blog. haha

my mind is blowing images of all those toys. From vinyl to plushes, fuck I feel like I am going back to those days where toys was a hit, when they are presented right infront of my eyes. TOys like stickfas, capsule, kubricks....and that list of mine just goes on and on and on........

Plushes seems to be the one that I am the most into at the moment.. with so many to choose from, probably I will go sew one for myself. haha. Saw this on the net, it was real cool plushes man...it was a callbo by evilmonito's crew and amercian legendary jean manufacturer Hudson....fucking awesome packaging and plushes....wish to own some of plushes and exhibit them in my room...haha

Nope, I ain gona put in any titles for this entry. Simply because I don't think its neccessary, you might be thinking probably I could just put in the date as the heading, but nah I don't it look to look so cliche.

Came home feeling so full, after a hearty meal at a beef noodle shop at liang seah st. with co. throwing in a couple of beers at millenia walk's paulauder. Must say the beer there was good, simply tasty and of cos serving was excellent due to the long mug they served. Well had a nice night chilling out, with life band as well as soccer to entertain my saturday evening with the guys. Well thought it might be one of those boring nights, but of cause it was fairly reasonable though nothing was plan and yet we had things to entertain us throughout.

Well back to work again, so much work to do and its like I haven plan everything properly which I thought I had. Was suppose to be helping in a shoot for my old friend at shooting gallery but it turns out that he wasn't able to get the motorbike ready for the shoot, so in the end had to postpone to another later date. Following that next week, will be assisiting Mr. Chan in a wedding photography shoot which would happen on location at Fullerton Hotel. It will be a first time for me in going for such shoot, not that at helm in meddling with people shoot, hope Ganwei don't need too much assitance for me espcially in regards to the posing and stuff, cause I don't really know what to do for such joyous occassion. Hahaha.

I always have a problem with putting a striking heading for an entry. It really takes up alot of time thinking of one that would draw attention, I want something that is simple but at the same time short and sweet. Is it that everything that is attention drawing have to be long and complicated. I am still experimenting on my vault which has kept some really simple but yet meaningful words, but yet I have forsaken them for a long period of time, got to do some recollection.

Finally got the reply I wanted, someone who was able to guide me through the stages in my work process. It was really an honour to have a great mentor, someone who was really was really an award winner. One could only dream of him to critic your work, and most importantly replying to your email, despite you are not even in his list of contacts. Really admire him more, with his high status in the industry, yet he took time to look through my work and giving them some critic. His critics really spelled how much more I need to endevaour in this line before I can establish myself in this line. I would continue to pesevere.

Had the slowest moving week. Nothing really much happen at work. Just the usual payments to be made, best part was the naggy mdm was on course for 2 days, that really made my week look smooth. Went tanning for twice this week, but still I am not looking anywhere tanned, maybe its just because like what Farhan said I haven been an outdoor kid since young. Well not going to agree to what he said and I am going to continue my tanning sessions during lunch breaks.

IPPT is coming, and I am really training hard, with longer sessions of run and weight training. Which pushes my cardio endurance. Like so much that I have learn during my fitness instructor course, more with the ballistic exercise. Well I like things to move fast, I can't stand things moving at such slow pace. Just so sickening.

Another week in this boring months has passed....So much to jot down. Everything seems to pass us by at incredible speed. Its like first you know its monday and soon its the end of the week already. But well whats there to complain about, another week pass its a week less to count on my calendar towards ORD. Its just so fast, everything seems like yesterday....training at the old drill shed...the morning drills at the parade square....the classes we attended at blk 29, all this happened at the old Police Academy. Its gona be another 9months more before I am put into the NSmen list, now I have this dilemma.

Much things are gona happen in the months to come this year, both at work as well as for my own project and events. Like cousin's wedding in June, it something that I would be looking forward to. Well and so much of other things to handle for myself.
MOS proved to be a bored after going there like twice in a month, still I think Zouk fits the picture of an ideal super club in SG.

Dropped by Arab St. with Melissa and Steven. Steven had the idea of going there because of the so called hyped, circulating in the scene, as well as because they went ZOUK WITHOUT ME the night before. Its like a place you should check out if you think you are hipped and in the trend. With shops like WHITE ROOM which sells tons of really vintage, exclusive tees, accessories and design its mind blasting. Not forgetting the COMMES DES GARCON guerilla store, which houses the infamous THE WORK agency under the same roof. Well Steven and I were like going bonkers over the 2 shops, he was dreaming of the Fred Perry polo tee and there i was still captivated by the sight of the fred perry shoes on display at white room which cost $120....well walk around the area dropped by phunk studio and got abit of tour guiding by Steven and poor Melissa had to bear with all the design chats between me and steven leaving her all alone wondering what we are talking about...melissa if you are reading sorry....

Ermm got to prepare myself for my IPPT in 24TH MARCH, its like a battle of the FITNESS INSTRUCTORs in ANG MO KIO POLICE DIVISION, FAUZI from training dept will be doing his on the same day, together with myselF, Din and Adrian respectively coming from PNSmen and PNSF, quote me if I am wrong. We are the only 4 fitness instructor left in the division. Well it means less boozing sessions...to get myself prepared for this event.

Thought it would be cool to journal another entry. Hahaha having it consecutively written. I am not sure what I am gona write, but just had the sundden thought of writting something.

In a few hrs time, it will be another night of clubbing at MOS since pay is in, I guess I won't have too much of problem to spend for just one night. Anyway its spending on myself...so guess I won't be overstretching my budget.

Tanning at yio chu kang on thursday was awesome, got the Tan that I want and of cause the much talk about trip there. Saw my awesome tannlines after the swim, it really showed me the difference of the before and after look.

Well, just remembered that my DOC Hairy atan would be switching office. Well may hell break lose in my office. So much things in this years agenda, I am not expecting myself to be save in my small corner in the office, with everyone whos got what it takes leaving and with the coming of the new reigns. I am sure nothing will be fine after this FY, so much to be done and yet no one has been arranged to come in and understudy. So fuck with all the arrangments and meetings its like practically no use at all just by saying and nothing is being down to savage the matter. Those with big post just knows how to open up their mouth and say, how effective he wants it to be, but what the fuck putting in a replacement is it so difficult.

My tolerance in the office is gettting thinner and thinner everyday, with the managment and the people in my dept(refers to that old lady). Maybe when the words that came out from her mouth that moment she wasn't aware I was in the office, but I don't really care...I just can't stand the way how she could say bad things about me and yet later act as if nothing has happen and talk to me n such a manner, i really can't comprehend her hypocricity. I just find her sucky..and i really don't wish to talk to her anymore except for things that i need to alias with her.

This week is so pack with interesting events. Kicked off the week, coming back to work or should I consider a day off from work because it was a retreat at ALOHA chalet. Well it was a fun filled Monday, it started with a bowling session in the morning at Bukit Gombak the HomeTeamNs clubhouse, well I would say it was fun, during the 3 sets of games, I played my PERSONAL best of crediting 145pts thanks to my TURKEY(3CONSECUTIVE STRIKES) almost caught up with HOCK LEE who was hyped as the best player in the office. Haha close to beating him....arghhh

After that had a reminiscene tour back in Tampines st.81, oh yes it was my old school ST.HILDA'S i miss it so much. So many memories there, its like sharpen into my head. The friends I had there, the joy and sorrow i shed well it was all there. Made some really good buds who are still living the moment had my fair share of enemies whom I would sway away upon seeing them. Then it was aloha chalet, had abit of tanning session wit my collegues, catered bbq food from LEE WEE bros and bbq them, jack was cool man he did lasgane haha it was crazy everyone loves it.

Well the next came, the career talk by ECD OF JWT Mr. TAY GUAN HIN. Fuck hes the man i look up to when it comes to advertising. Hes been around for like 15 years or so in the industry. Really open up my mind about designing and advertising as a whole. It was a killer to understand so much more about advertising and the works he created. Trully a ear opener for me. Hope to hear from Him soon. Hopefully if one day like what he says, if I could pesvere and be persistnat I might win that game. Its hard to imagine one would not excel if taken under his wing.

Flashing lights, loud cheers, fantastic dance coupled with a few drunkards, that was THAIPUSAM 2006.

The beats, the thumping of the drums and cheers this was what made the procession was made up, the sound of it still lingers in my head. Finished 13 hours of ground deployment at Clemencau Ave, which is darn near MOS. But i guess for that night the winner would be Thaipusam Festival and the temple at Tank Road, where the Karvadis who were dancing to the drumb beats and the singing by their supporters. I must say those Indian Chaps are really good at making those tribal beats(love tribal beats), for awhile it almost had me grooving while watching them do their stuff. Too bad I was in uniform and was briefed b4 hand not to dance during duty.(haha)

Overall it was an experince for me, to actually witness it first hand without even squeezing with the crowd. I proved to be hazard preventing the passerbys from watching haha, it was not my choice I was given the command to keep them the public away from my area of duty....where there I was having the view many would envy, but of cause it came with a price which was to manning my post for nearly 12 hours, the 12 hours stand would make the strongest feel weak, I witness it first hand even now my legs still feel sore.

The whole event was pretty colorful u see the karvadis carrier with all those heavy articles on their body you really got to respect the kind of endurance they have, to be able to endure such excruciating torments. Almost had a fight that broke out, but was pretty fast resolved, with around 5 - 6 officers including myself arriving at the scene during the event. We were all pretty much prepared for such things to happen so wasn't really alarmed when it happened right infront of me.

Though before this had all this complaints, I take back my words and I am glad I was there as a uniformed police officer who was there to protect life and property. Well the next year same time, I am very sure I won't be there anymore...hahahaha

After this event, I know Valentines Day is coming, well I am still single haha...so it means I will be all alone again..haha ermm the feeling just sucks knowing you will be alone on that day, dun understand why too maybe I am jealous haha. Its like when you know you dun have someone, you dun have someone...it makes it such a harsh fact.
Well gona stay at home that day, which I will claim back from my duty yesterday. But for now gona pack my back, tomorrows a retreat at Aloha Chalet...am looking forward to the career talk which i rcv an invite for at GREY ADVERTISING.

duty duty

so sian, anticipating the duty tml. Feel so uneasy don't know why? the feeling just sucks, cause the whole weekend burned....hai.

I sometimes really don't understand why are we needed for such events. Thinking through of what Chee Mun said to me once regarding deploying Office Hour Staff for ground duty, its like another burden and responsibility for the regular counterparts who are assigned as Team Leaders, which then they have take care of us when we are deployed to the ground.

But well whatever it is I will still be doing duty at TANK ROAD, unless they deploy me further down which i heard from my OC that it might be in the junction between Mohammad Sultan and Liang Court there....its thaipusam for peeps who don't know. I guess many of my other mates who are in other divisions are also engaged in the same event which stretch over a length of 3 shifts starting from tonight. It will be a busy night at Tank Road and definetly a colorful one at Little India, ermm to think of it I just had Thosai at Little India the day before....

Can't wait for everything to end man, which I would stand down from duty, probably say at 2 - 3am in the wee hours of sunday morning. Following that would be my retreat on Monday, nothing was absolutely plan out for the day, arrangments were all made this week which gave us very little time to prepare for anything. Sometimes you can't blame anyone in the office for the mistakes they do cause it was pass down to us at such a late notice. Whatever it is i am still having that wierd feeling in me in regards to the event that will be happening tomorrow, I am not sure if its called anxiety?
